Is anybody watching this? If so, what do you think so far? Should they have been convicted? Should they be released? I have my opinions, but I'll hold off writing a bunch of stuff because I don't even know if any of you are watching the series.

I am watching but behind (a bit) a few episodes ... but Joseph, their Father was HORRID.

I mean at this point in my viewing ... even the Father's relatives saw the abuse and knew about the abuse and yet DID NOTHING, nothing AT ALL to help those boys INCLUDING their Mother.

    Very very very sad.

I am guessing that is what you are thinking as well.

I've been watching as well and while I remember the convictions, I didn't know all the family dynamics that led up to the shootings. The news, at the time, was slanted against privileged white boys killing their parents because they wanted the family money. It's good to see the development.

I'm watching, I love anything to do with the law. I'm still not sure about the sexual abuse, although I do think their father was abusive in many other ways. I just can't believe this was so long ago, time goes by so fast.
I enjoy Edie Falco very much.

Momrek, you know me too well. That is exactly what I was thinking. This case is fascinating. Sad, but fascinating.

All of this happened around the time I was born so I'm not sure how much of this series is fact and how much (if any) is embellished for TV ratings. That said, IF it's true that the father sexually, mentally and physically abused his sons, and IF it's true that the mother sexually abused at least one of them to a lesser degree and did nothing to protect either of the brothers and IF it's true that someone found actual kiddie-porn photographs that were taken of Eric and Lyle by their father when they were pre-teens, then I think they should be out of prison by now. I'm not saying they shouldn't have been convicted of something. I'm just saying they should have been convicted of a MUCH lesser charge. (I want to say "acquittal," but I know that sends a bad message about vigilante justice).

Until this series, my only knowledge of this case was that of two rich, white spoiled brats who wanted their parent's money.

ME TOO, Joseph. (my bolding) ---> I thought the exact same thing.

BUT now to watch this series ... I am disgusted and shocked at BOTH those parents.

Last night the Mother was HORRID when one of the boy's cousin (or aunt) confronted the mother about the ABUSE and the Mother sternly looked at her and told her SHE MADE IT UP.

And that same relative then said (while on the stand) that was basically the last time she had anything to do with the family.

Now all this being so said ... and not having lived this lifestyle ... why did they kill their parents as vs them reaching out to everyone UNTIL SOMEONE would help them ... ?

Again, I never had to deal with this or struggle with this OR even know anyone close to me that struggled with mental, physical and sexual abuse so I am guessing its not even fair that I have an opinion on what the

boys did to their parents. It just is so sad. The WHOLE story is so sad. And ITA w/you, why not a 'lesser' charge???

Their mother seemed very of strange in all of this, I think she was also fearful of their father, but also dealt with mental issues. I do remember at the time hearing how Kitty was on medication( s) do you remember that..?

Re. Law and Order True Crime- I feel kind of bad but I have never believed the Menendez brothers' defense and after watching this show I still don't. It's weird because normally I am very sympathetic to victims, and even criminals in general- I am a sap. But for some reason I just don't believe them and my gut visceral feeling is that I think they belong in prison- I don't know why. This show seems to be attempting show a very sympathetic view of the brothers but I still feel the same way. I also feel bad about this but on the show I find the character Leslie Abrams as well as the actress who plays her super unlikeable and annoying. Why am I seeing all this so differently than others? I wonder.

In the real case, Leslie Abrams was accused of ethical violations because she reportedly asked the psychologist who saw Eric to rewrite his report to be more sympathetic. The charges were dropped eventually. I wonder if they will include that on the show.

Maybe because they are males???? I'm not accusing, I'm just suggesting. I can't help but think if Lyle and Eric had been Lila and Erica people would have been more sympathetic, shouting from the rooftops, "How could that bastard molest his daughters like that?!?!? He deserved to die!!!"

I don't know if its the writing, or the acting, but I'm not 100% sure they were abused. I know this show is supposed to do this, you can take the evidence and make up you're own mind.
Something about their abuse ( or alleged abuse) just doesn't ring true for me.Of course the parents are dead, and unable to speak for themselves. So the boys can pretty much say what they want. The skeevey doctor doesn't help me, either way.
I saw part of a doctor Phil last week, a man was accused of molesting his daughters, and I didn't believe them, something was off.
The mother had accused other men of the same thing, perhaps that why, there was a pattern..
With Eric and Lyle, the verdict is still out with me.Leslie Abrams was sure different, I remember her, Edie Falco is doing a good job portraying her.
