The "school" is inclusive in spirit, if not deed.

I loved the bit of the father teaching the daughter the difference between being jerks an being DeMaos.

Mom mellowed toward the end of the episode...loved the bit where she taught the principal how to negotiate.

Well, it is a fictional comedy. If there had been a ramp in front, there wouldn't have been the funny bit where she interacted with the man who would end up helping her child.

The show has been increased to a full season of 22 episodes.

I watched half of the show and got annoyed that they made the family "trashy"...why the build up of crap all over the floor like they were hoarders and the fact that they had to shovel the stuff up in order to move. They could be an eccentric famlly, but this was unneccesary.

A lot of people live that way....not just poor people, but plenty of rich ones, too. All the sitcoms have pristine homes. Even on Mom, the house is clean and the furniture is decent. I kind of like that this one is different.

I appreciate the extremes for the comedic slant.

I actually love "The Middle" too because the house is not the usual picture perfect sitcom home. The Heck's place is a disaster!

    Re: Speechless with Minnie Driver

The DeMaos own their messiness and last episode said goodbye to a lot of trash after they finally decided to stay and moved all the stuff from their previous residence.

I like the father/son bonding where they can find it. This past episode it was curbside trash. The father can't pass it by and while the son almost talked him out of stopping, there were two matching turquoise lamps and he does like matching things. I really liked how that all resolved.

To me, that and the daughter not being able to run guilt free anymore, overshadowed, in a good way, the main storyline of JJ integrating into a non-special needs school.

I finally got around to watching this, this week. I expected to love it, but didn't. It does deserve a few more tries though.

I gave the show another try tonight. I don't know if it was the episode or what, but I really liked tonight's show a lot.
