"The Next Great Champ" moving to Fox Sports Net

    http://www.tvbarn.com/ticker2004/archives/027486.shtml

"The Next Great Champ" will no longer be broadcast on the main Fox network. The Fox Sports Net group of regional sports channels will air the run of the season. FSN will air a marathon of older episodes Sunday, October 10 with new episodes to air on Sundays at 6 p.m. local time starting October 17. Details of the season finale are under discussion.

Fox Gives up on "The Next Great Champ"!!!

    I got this from zap2it:

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Charges of premise theft and a subsequent court bout couldn't knock down FOX's boxing series "The Next Great Champ." Where the producers of NBC's "The Contender" failed, though, the TV viewers of America have delivered a knockout blow.
FOX is throwing in the towel on the low-rated "Champ," sending it to cable sibling FSN for the remainder of its run. The network of regional sports channels will show the first four episodes -- which have already aired on FOX -- back to back beginning at 5 p.m. local time Sunday (Oct. 10). New episodes will run at 6 p.m. Sundays beginning Oct. 17.

"'The Next Great Champ' is a compelling, well-produced series. Unfortunately, despite its loyal core audience, the underlying boxing theme of the series has proved too narrow for us," FOX Entertainment president Gail Berman says. "In the end, it belongs on an outlet better suited to serve the boxing fan."

This is stupid ... why can't they show the rest of the shows on Friday Nights? Or some other graveyard slot?

Dammit, I hate when this happens.
