FOX is throwing in the towel on the low-rated "Champ," sending it to cable sibling FSN for the remainder of its run. The network of regional sports channels will show the first four episodes -- which have already aired on FOX -- back to back beginning at 5 p.m. local time Sunday (Oct. 10). New episodes will run at 6 p.m. Sundays beginning Oct. 17.
"'The Next Great Champ' is a compelling, well-produced series. Unfortunately, despite its loyal core audience, the underlying boxing theme of the series has proved too narrow for us," FOX Entertainment president Gail Berman says. "In the end, it belongs on an outlet better suited to serve the boxing fan."
