Yes, Rosie started it by talking about his hair (everyone does Jay Leno and David Letterman) but the virtoulic hatred spewed by Trump is overwhelming. Now he has gone on every program spewing his nastiness- it's been going on for two months. In addition he has dragged Barbara Walters in the middle of the mess. Supposedly Trump is friends with Barbara but he just sent Rosie and the media a letter saying what Barbara said during their phone conversation. Trump is savvy to know that he can say anything about this supposed conversation without liability because their is no proof. I think Barbara is a seasoned reporter who probably said some not please with Rosie stuff but Trump has blowned it and twisted it for his own agenda. What a good friend he is. His show sucks, his hair sucks. And if he didn't have any money- no one would give him a second look.

I'm on Rosie's side on this one. Sure she mocked him a little, but who doesn't. This is a free country and everyone is entitled to free speech. The issue is not about Tara Conner getting a second chance (everyone deserves a second chance), but whether Donald with his womanizing and egomaniac self was the right person to give her that chance.

But I think what got Donald really mad was Rosie's claims about his bankruptcy, because here he is on Apprentice trying to portray himself as this self-made mogul (and impress some 20-something year olds who probably doesn't know much about his past), when she calls him out. The fact of the matter is that though Donald himself did not file for personal bankruptcy, his company, Trump Casinos and Resorts, filed for bankruptcy (not once, but twice), all when he was the CEO and was drawing a salary of $2 million a year (see Wikipedia). So you can say that he is a loser businessman, though he made a lot of money by ripping off his company's shareholders. Way to run a business, they typical greedy Enron, Worldcom, Adelphia style!

But what bothers me most is the inane name-calling that followed. I mean, do you call a person (Rosie) "pig-faced", "slob", "loser" on live TV? And do you threaten to "send someone to take away a person's (Rosie) girlfriend"? Who is the real loser here? Besides Rosie runs her own charity and regularly donates for children's causes, what has Donald done for anyone else, except himself and his greedy ex-wife Ivana?

I'm not a fan of either one....

I think Rosie's opinions are far too critical of anyone who isn't as "Liberal" as she is and she's much too full of herself.

However, Donald has shot his mouth off way too much on this topic. Every time he speaks, he sounds like a 4th grader, spewing anything that comes to mind and repeating himself relentlessly. He does not come across as a savvy successful business man. Rather, he sounds like he belongs on Jerry Springer.

Someone needs to take the high road here and show a bit of class, rather than this nonsense.

If the D did this to help his ratings for The Apprentice, it's a pretty lousy marketing strategy and if any of the 'applicants' tried a marketing tactic like this on his show, I think we all know what Donald's castigation would be.

Once Trump (what normal person is called THE) started talking and calling her fat and degenerate, he lost any chance that I would ever support anything he is a part of. If he had answered her in a calm, non-attacking manner, he would have "won" the PR battle.

    I agree, Gabby.
She did have a go at him on The View so I expected him to fire back.
His response has been completely ridiculous imo though.
I do think she attempted to take the high road and let the matter die when she initially refused to respond to him on The View.
The day after he responded to her she just pulled a face on the show, but didn't say anything else, other than that she had bought her girlfriend into work so someone wouldn't try to steal her away (Donald claimed he'd send one of his friends round to do just that - how childish).

Donald had a go at Meredith for bringing up the subject on The Today Show, but then went on Letterman and called Rosie a degenerate.
This was days after the inital comments by Rosie.
Rosie was off on holiday for two weeks during which time Trump was making the same comments all over the tv.
Despite her claims to the contrary he's continued to accuse Barbara of regretting the decison to hire Rosie and of wanting to fire her.
He even sent a letter to Rosie yesterday raking the whole thing up again.
Barbara likes to at least try to remain neutral, but even she commented on him personally this morning calling him "that poor pathetic man".

For God's sake Donald, just let it go

    Up here in my tree...

Trump is so pathetic it's not even funny. Nothing like a bit of trumped up - pun intended - distatestful publicity to grease the ratings wheel, right? Think again. The Apprentice is suffering from Stage IV terminal cancelitis and we're just watching the final death spasms now and the whole thing is almost fascinating in a morbid sort of way. Sooner, rather than later, NBC will put his obscene ego trip of a show out of its misery but in the meantime Trump gets right down into the muck and fights it out like the classy guy he is with Rosie calling her fat and a degenerate. Gosh, that maneuver must have been thaught in "How To Look Like An Ass 101" and Trump sure seems like he didn't miss a minute of that course.

I guess he just couldn't go gently into the good night; it had to be amid fanfare and controversy to keep his name in the news for whatever crap project he's got lined up after The Apprentice bites the dust. If all else fails and the Rosie debacle doesn't generate the desired effect I suppose he could always pick on someone else with an even higher profile. Loser!

Walters Calls Trump `poor, Pathetic Man'
    The Associated Press
    Wednesday, January 10, 2007; 1:26 PM

NEW YORK -- Donald Trump has called Barbara Walters a liar and Rosie O'Donnell a loser. On Wednesday, they both fired back.

"Well, he's at it again," said O'Donnell, referring to a letter written to her by Trump and reported Tuesday by the media. The letter said Walters had told him that working with O'Donnell on ABC's "The View" is like "living in hell."

"That poor, pathetic man," said Walters, drawing whoops of approval from her TV audience.

O'Donnell high-fived Walters and co-hosts Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. "You know, he just can't _ he just can't let go, but we're moving on," Walters said.

The co-hosts didn't mention him by name, referring to Trump as "he" and "that guy."

"The man is obsessed with me, and I'm happy to say his show tanked," O'Donnell said, an apparent reference to the ratings of the latest edition of Trump's NBC reality show, "The Apprentice," which started Sunday and fell short of those from last spring's season premiere.

An e-mail from The Associated Press seeking comment from Trump wasn't immediately answered Wednesday. But TV show "The Insider" said a statement from Trump said, "They didn't even have the courage to mention me by name. It was sad to see Barbara read her statement off a cue card."

In his letter to O'Donnell, Trump said Walters had "lied to both of us."

He said Walters had called him from her vacation trying to end the feud and supposedly told him "don't worry, she won't be here for long" and "Donald, never get in the mud with pigs."

Walters said last week she hadn't told Trump she didn't want O'Donnell on the daytime talk show. "Nothing could be further from the truth," she said.

The Rosie-Donald feud began last month after Trump announced that Miss USA Tara Conner would keep her title, which had been in jeopardy because of underage drinking. He owns the pageant.

O'Donnell said his news conference had annoyed her "on a multitude of levels" and that the twice-divorced real estate mogul had no right to be "the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America."

was a dramatic news conference necessary to address Ms. Conner's "issues"? or was that a chance to get airtime and look good?

I'm definately not on The D side but they did have a national press conference when they stripped Vanessa Williams of her title because of some nude photos many moons ago.
