| Three great finalists, all tough choices Hi Gang! As a newbie here I'd just like to offer my humble opinion on the three finalists in the Nashville Star contest. I honestly think that all three finalists are very talented and valid arguments can be made in support of each one. It's a shame that only one can win, but the national exposure they received will undoubtably open a few additional doors for them. I think that Buddy's experience and stage presence gives him an edge. He's got a natural country voice and swagger to him, too. His rendition of "Gentle on my mind" sounded like it came from the heart. I like that. John Arthur Martinez has energy and talent, but he lacks in voice range (imho). He does indeed sound like a Mexican Marty Robbins. He just seems like a down-to-earth kinda guy. Miranda seems to be at home when on the stage. She is very unpretentious for her young age and her talent hasn't gone to her head. She's all country and dresses conservatively, which speaks volumes for her character. Personally, I won't be disappointed regardless who wins, and I think the other two will fare just fine in their country music careers. My prediction: Buddy Jewel

| Buddy is my pick too. I think he has it all-drive, desire to succeed, and most of all talent. He has a broad range in his voice and writes absolutely fantastic songs. IMO he has more than paid his dues and is now very deserving of the title "Nashville Star". I like John Arthur and Miranda too. John Arthur seems to be more limited in his singing power and style while Miranda needs more time to ripen as a song-writer and performer. I think Buddy is just ripe for picking!! I'm just pleased that the best performers are in the final 3. I'm going to really miss seeing these folks every Saturday night but I'm sure we haven't seen the last of any of them. They will all be big stars soon! ![]()

| Thanks for the welcome, Paulie. Like yourself, I'm not an AI fan (I actually don't watch any reality shows with the exception of NS), however, unlike yourself I am a country music fan. I come from the hills of Pennsylvania and a long line of country music on my dad's side. My grandpap plyed fiddle, my dad and his three brothers play guitar, and my cousin Danny is a professional steel player. I play and sing a bit myself, although I appreciate the country music from the 60's & 70's as opposed to "today's" country music. I was raised with Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Ernest Tubb, Loretta Lynn, Hank Thompson, Eddy Arnold, et al. About a month ago I surfed by the USA channel and watched a bit of Nashville Star. I liked what I saw and have been watching ever since. Yeah, it's a bit commercialized, but the passion from the performers is something I can relate to. I agreed with Oermman's opinion about Barndon - "You just can't sing!". Sorry, that kid just rubbed me wrong, and his cliche' response about everyone having an "opinion" among other things, was classless. I was glad to see him go. I have no problem with the judges, they seem to be sincere. I felt sorry for Brandi, I think she knew she was in tough competition. It would have been a travesty if she made the cut and Buddy didn't. I think the showdown will be between Buddy and Miranda. Thanks again for the welcome!

| I think Miranda has that charisma that the public love and John Arthur presents a very wholesome picture of a talented individual - Buddy seem to be a good old boy but somehow I don't see him as a star but then again who knows. The final three deserve to be here and no matter who ends up the winner the other two have also won the hearts of so many. |

| As I stated earlier, anyone of these final three "deserves" to win. Arguments can made for all three. I think Buddy is the favorite due to his experience; Miranda is an "aw shucks", pretty young thing with talent; John Arthur has a Johnny Rodriguez style and an addictive smile. Miranda might win simply because there's no telling what level she'll reach in her prime - years from now, whereas (imho) Buddy has just about reached his peak. 1. Buddy Jewell 2. Miranda Lambert 3. John Arthur Martinez Buddy and Miranda may flip-flop, but I'd be surprised if JAM wins it all, even more surprised if Buddy finishes last.

| Do you think they'll rank them? I really doubt it. I think we'll just be informed who wins. The other "losers" tie for second, but, as Pathfinder said, they're all going to fare pretty well. I just hope Amy finds similar success. She was my favorite all along. Oh, did I already mention that? ![]()

| I thought I read that they will announce who is "booted" (3rd place), and the final two will perform again. The winner will be 1st (natch) and the other finalist will be 2nd by default. Although I like all three, I'll be real suprised if JAM wins it all. Just a gut feel.

| I read on the USA Network/Nashville Star website this morning that all 3 will perform then 1 will be booted, the final 2 will sing again and then they will announce the winner. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night's show but I'm dreading it too cause I don't want it to end. I love this show and all the performers!!

| The more I think about it, the more I feel that Buddy will win. Nashville needs to "right a wrong", so to speak, and reward this guy for his talent and efforts of the last ten years. Miranda would be a great story - she's young, pretty and talented - but this exposure will lead to a bright career for her anyway. John Arthur Martinez has everything except voice range, which is OK, I guess. Buck Owens sings everything in the key of "C & G", it seems like, and he had a great career (thanks to Don Rich). I think we'll be blessed with a match between Buddy and Miranda. Miranda will get some non-music related votes for her youth and good-looks, and Buddy will get the votes from hard-core, old-fashioned country music lovers, so it will even out. I hope the ratings will permit a 2nd season. This 1st season exposure may bring more undiscovered talent to the forefront. As a country musician myself, I've seen/heard some fine amateur talent in my day that just needs a platform to expose themselves. Just like the internet has given people more options to discover and research things of interest, these contests in combination with cable TV, has allowed many people additional options to pursue their dreams. Something tells me that next season will reveal a vast array of talented individuals that will outdo even this year's crop of fine artists. Plus, it gives these wannabes a year to hone their skills.
