| Rumored CD I heard that Nashville Star will be releasing a compilation CD featuring all 12 finalists and it may be available as soon as March 25th. As the time draws near, there will probably be information available on the Nashville Star website, (click the link at the top of this forum). | |

| I just got the skinny... Press Release Columbia Records Nashville Releases Songs From the Television Series 'Nashville Star' Thursday March 13, 12:07 pm ET 'Nashville Star - The Finalists' in Stores March 25 NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Three weeks after America is introduced to the country music hopefuls of USA Network's "Nashville Star," Columbia Records Nashville will release an album featuring music from the 12 finalists of the talent search. On March 25, 2003, America can fully embrace the artists they met on the March 8th premiere when Columbia Nashville releases "Nashville Star: The Finalists." Each of the 12 finalists has selected a popular standard and worked with six of the most successful producers in the business to deliver music for this album. Audiences will be able to see the finalists perform their song selections on the March 15th episode of "Nashville Star." "Country music is truly America's music," acknowledged one of the Nashville Star: The Finalists producers Garth Fundis. "Stylistically, it goes from the very traditional, to blues and pop-rock influences and I think the 'Nashville Star' finalists reflect that diversity beautifully. I believe what this show can do is wonderfully illustrate -- through these talented folks -- how diverse it really is." "Country music was one of only two genres of music that showed any growth at all in 2002," noted Mike Kraski, Exec. VP/GM Sony Music Nashville. "There is a lot of America between LA and New York, and these people listen to and relate to today's country music. 'Nashville Star' was a natural evolution for a televised talent search. I think we are going to see some remarkable talent as a result." The producers of the television program have taken the traditional talent search model several steps further for "Nashville Star." The 12 finalists will live in a fully wired home in Nashville, where cameras will record their daily quest to become a star. Audiences will become a part of the entire process -- from songwriting to concert performances with country superstars and everything in between. The 12 finalists come from cities as diverse as Los Angeles, California, and Lindale, Texas, and range in age from 19 to 41. The finalists, their stats and song selections are: Travis Howard, 32, performing "Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain"; Kristen Kissling, 22, "Heartbreak Hotel"; Brandi Gibson, 21, "Walking After Midnight"; Prentiss Varnon, 22, "Hey Good Lookin'"; Buddy Jewel, 41, "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye"; Brandon Silveira, 24, "Act Naturally"; Jamey Garner, 32, "Two More Bottles of Wine"; Natasha Valentine, 21, "Your Cheatin' Heart"; John Arthur Martinez, 41, "When You Say Nothing At All"; Amy Chappell, 27, "Son of a Preacher Man"; Miranda Lambert, 19, "Honky Tonk Blues"; and Anne Louise Blythe, 24, "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me." The award-winner producers who were tapped to help create the music for this unique album are Buddy Cannon (Kenny Chesney, Sara Evans); Don Cook (Brooks and Dunn, Alabama); Garth Fundis (Don Williams, Trisha Yearwood); Kyle Lehning (Randy Travis, the Derailers); David Malloy (Reba McEntire, Billy Gilman) and Joe Scaife (Montgomery Gentry, Billy Ray Cyrus). Access Hollywood's Nancy O'Dell will host "Nashville Star" each Saturday night, beginning March 8th at 9:00 PM ET/PT. Judges for the talent search include Columbia/Lucky Dog recording artist Charlie Robison, respected country music journalist Robert Oermann and Sony Music A&R consultant Tracy Gershon. Additional celebrity judges will serve on a rotating basis. The grand prizewinner will receive a recording contract from Sony Music Nashville produced by country superstar Clint Black. USA Network's "Nashville Star" is a nation-wide grass roots search for the next great country music artist. After holding 48 local competitions and five regional finals in conjunction with radio stations across the country, "Nashville Star" narrowed the field from more than 8,000 applicants to 12 finalists who will compete against each other live every Saturday night from the Acuff Theater in Nashville. Over the nine-week run, audiences and the Nashville Star celebrity judges will choose the grand prizewinner. For more information on Nashville Star, log on to www.usanetwork.com/nashvillestar. | It looks to be a well rounded variety of songs, and we know from watching the show last week that the singers are a diverse bunch too. I'll bet this turns out great. ![]()

| I'm kind of wishing the CD contained songs from this week instead of last week. I liked all of their song choices a little better, (with the exception of Brandi's song). Are any of you going to buy it? Do you think it will get any airplay? I don't listen to country on the radio, so be sure and let me know if you hear any of these songs anywhere, OK? ![]()
