Oermann toured the country with the other Nashville Star judges to cull the 12 best aspiring talents, and will continue to use his critical eye to spot just which one of the finalists has the right mix of raw talent and potential to be declared USA Network’s first Nashville Star. Dubbed "The Dean of Nashville’s music writers," Oermann is a multimedia figure in Music City. Already a TV personality, he is seen regularly on the CMT series Inside Fame and on A&E’s Biography. He is the Editor-at-Large of Country Music magazine, a weekly columnist for the trade publication Music Row, and has been published in more than 100 other national magazines. For the past two years, Oermann has scripted the Hall of Fame segments on the nationally telecast CMA Awards (CBS). Oermann’s seven books to date include the award-winning Finding Her Voice (Crown, 1993/Henry Holt, 1995), A Century of Country (TV Books/Harper Collins, 1999) and Little Miss Dynamite (Hyperion, 2002), the autobiography of new Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Brenda Lee. | He's gushy. Hardly ever has anything negative to say. Not sure if that's good "judge" material or not. At least the performers can count on something positive to build on when they're done.

| Oh, I don't know - he had some pretty harsh zingers in the first show. I don't think any of the finalists are going to get really negative feedback from Robert simply because he seems to like them all. I don't think he would hold back negative comments, (if their performance tanked), just to spare their feelings though.

| I must've missed his zingers. He's mostly just beaming at his 12 teacher's pets and drooling on himself.

| 11 pets. He didn't have anything nice to say about Anne Louise. He thought she furthered the ruin of a perfectly good Warren Zevon song. OK. I'll grant you the gushy if you take back the drool. He's a dweeb, not a lecher. ![]()

| I meant dweeby drool, not lecherous drool. He's drooling excitedly at their efforts, not their bodies, unlike Charlie.

| I get more and more uncomfortable with his comments each week. He should stick to actual commentary instead of trying to throw out one-liners. He fumbles over his words and fails miserably. I hate getting embarrassed for people.

| Yeah, he's a treat. He busts out with so many dumb comments. Then he sits there and laughs nervously because he knows he said something ridiculous.

| The perils of the live show. Mr. Eager Beaver squeezed a pretty fair-sized obscenity by the censors right before Brandi erupted into tears.

| oooooooh! I missed it. What did he say???? He's starting to get on my nerves. He's got that bad Simon Cowell attitude of criticizing a performance simply because it's a song he doesn't happen to like. I love you, Simon!! Really I do. But sometimes ...... |
