Part of the on-air team that originally launched Access Hollywood in 1996, she previously served as a weekend co-anchor and a weekday correspondent until becoming co-anchor in January 1999. Previously, O’Dell has hosted the national Golden Globes Arrivals Show for the past three years with Dick Clark for NBC, and hosted the Emmys Pre-Show for Fox in 1999 and for ABC in 2000. Before joining Access Hollywood, she also served as co-anchor and investigative reporter for NBC’s Miami affiliate, WTVJ-TV. Currently, O’Dell can be heard on the radio each weekday hosting the nationally syndicated Access Hollywood Radio with Nancy O’Dell, a daily report offering the latest news from Hollywood. Although O’Dell maintains a busy work schedule, she regularly makes time for philanthropic endeavors. In February 2002, she was inducted into the American Red Cross’s National Celebrity Cabinet, and has also served as the national spokesperson for the March of Dime’s "Blue Jeans for Babies" campaign, a national effort to reduce the risks of birth defects by raising awareness about pre-natal and pregnancy care. In June 2002, Best Buddies honored O’Dell with the organization’s Spirit of Leadership Award, an honor that has previously been bestowed upon luminaries including Muhammad Ali, Maria Shriver, and Olympian Carl Lewis. O’Dell also serves as a Celebrity Ambassador for Childhelp USA, an organization committed to meeting the needs of abused and neglected children. A native of South Carolina, O’Dell was inducted into that state’s Hall of Fame in 1998 (as its youngest member ever) in recognition of her journalistic success. | Nancy made a pretty good host. I look forward to seeing what kind of interaction she is going to have with the contestants and how well she does with a live audience. She gives the show a much classier and more adult-like feel than Ryan Seacrest gives AI. I would be curious to see what they think their target audience is with Nashville Star.

| My friend from a country music station out here was in the running for the host spot, I'm sorry she was knocked out by Nancy LOL, but I must admit she did a great job ![]() Nancy was a good host, the only thing was she was taller than Clint Black lol. It kinda annoyed me, Clint's such a handsome macho man and there he was standing next to her and she was taller. Think they need to take their interviews sitting down. But she did a good job, I liked her a lot, very professional & "modern" & "hip" for a country music show, I think with her as a host they're trying to pull a bigger variety of viewers than only country music fans, cause if they were only aiming for country music fans they would've put her in hat, jeans & cowboy boots or picked someone else, it seems with a more "glamorous" host the show maybe appear "cooler" to people who aren't already into country? I dont know.... Like Barbara Mandrell says, "I was country when country wasn't cool" so doesn't matter to me ![]()

| She was kind of awkward hosting the live show, I thought. Uneven in her handling of the contestants.

| I always feel like Nancy is yelling at me. Also, the hair extensions are awful. And ... while I'm at it ... I wish they'd stop having Clint Black comment on every three performers. He says the same thing every time ... "They're all good, the band is great and the audience is great." His comments are serving no purpose whatsoever. |

| Total agreement on Clint Black, Eden! His "joke" about the family members fell flat, and he even tried to deliver it twice. Let's just have him sit there and be quiet.

| BTW, Nancy's really-close-together eyes were starting to disturb me by the end of the show.

| She's yet another TV personality with too much of that damn Alexis Vogul makeup... I don't understand why TV personalities feel the need to have caked on powder and the made-up look of a drag queen in order to feel attractive. It's fake and a total turn-off. | |

| No kidding, I totally agree with you. Also, Nancy seems to be so "plastic" and it's almost like she's reading a script directly from the screen, I hope she gets better ... Typically country should be more laid back than that, and more "lively" ..... she's too plastic. I really hope as she gets more experience that she'll loosen up a little. Clint just needs to sit there & look good, it's almost as if they're "forcing" him to stand up and say something since he's involved in the contest, even though he really has nothing to say. How about having him sing a song instead, that's what he's good at ![]()
