Again, each performance will be followed by commentary from our judges, and after everyone has performed, our judges will again eliminate the person they feel was the weakest performer. Then the remaining seven contestants will be presented to America, and you’ll have the opportunity to call in or log on and vote for your favorite performer.

In this week’s episode, live from the Acuff, the remaining six contestants will get the chance to show off their songwriting ability. You’ll learn a little more about who they are as artists and the kind of stories they want to tell, as we learn about the inspiration for their original songs, see them working with top songwriters to perfect their music, and meet some of the folks back home who are rooting them on. As usual, each performance will be followed by commentary from our judges, as well as from this week’s guest star, Brad Paisley. But this week, there will be a major change: you, the voting public, will become solely responsible for choosing the next Nashville Star — the judges will no longer have the ability to eliminate anyone. After five weeks of getting to know these contestants, it’s once again up to you to call in or log on and vote for your favorite.

This week’s episode is all about #1 songs: contestants will sing a cover song that previously hit the top of the chart, and then debut a song written by a hit-writing songwriter. After rehearsing at famous local Nashville nightspots, each contestant will perform live at the Acuff and then get commentary from our judges.
