Chris Young, the lone contestant raised in Tennessee (Murfreesboro), began singing at age 8, when he was asked to be a part of a children's song and dance act for the town July 4th celebration because they needed another boy. Chris admits he's pretty single-minded when it comes to his personal goals: To sing for the rest of his life, become a better songwriter and make a living in the music business. In addition to vocals, Chris also plays guitar and a little piano.
The artist he'd most like to perform a duet with: George Strait. Keith Whitley's "Miami My Amy" was the first album he bought, and Whitley's "Ten Feet Away" is his favorite song to sing at karaoke. Chris counts his mom as his hero and when asked what one word he'd use to describe himself, Chris cut to the core: country.
