Shy Blakeman calls Kilgore, Texas home. Country music wasn't always in Shy's blood. The first album he ever bought was from the rap group Public Enemy and he only began singing at age 15. Now, Shy is all about his music, citing his personal goal as being able to make a successful living playing music. He counts playing guitar and the mandolin as his other musical talents.

If Shy could perform a duet with one artist, it would be Bonnie Raitt. And although he doesn't sing karaoke, he imagines he would belt out "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey for his debut. Heroes? Shy has one: his mom.

I really like his voice too! I have both of his CDs and they are great. I can't wait to see him on the show .

Shy is my favorite of all the performers, I love his energy on stage! Can't wait to see what he will do next week, the theme is 'redneck songs'.

I really liked his explanation of why he performs barefoot, that music is a spiritual thing to him. I will be watching the shows in my bare feet to support Shy.
