I think they will give her what she is expecting to win ($500,000) for her and her family even if she fails and they will give her the 1 Million dollars if she succeeds.

I had read an article that said Randi had left her job (she was put on administrative leave from the school), to pursue avenues presented to her from the show.

I have a funny feeling that the family is in on it and the joke is actually on her. Which naturally they will give her the money if that's the case

That is exactly what I was just about to say. Because the last frame of her they showed, she had a look of surprise on her face, and she said, "What?"

Also, I see the parents giving side interviews that are too candid for uptight folk who are in an upsetting position. When I was on Monster House, we did a few of those. They take time to set up (the lights, the camera angles, the sound guys) and they are nerve wracking for people who have never been faced with a big huge camera in their face before. I find it odd that the dad would actually open up and talk about his feelings, in this situation, if he were genuinely upset. I also find it odd that mom would walk out of the wedding, after her big push for everyone to support Randi.

We, and Randi, are being taken for a ride.

I agree with combatcutie I think her mom is involved in the whole thing. That would explain why it was ok to have cameras film them when Randi called and why mom has been so supportive.

The more I think about it, the more I agree. I said awhile ago in another thread that I thought I heard that her family was in on it as well.(this was before it aired) Then after I watched it, I figured I heard wrong. Now I am beginning to wonder if that was true. I think the dad is playing too cool also. I don't think the kids are in on it though.

Here's what I think will happen:

After Randi learns that Steve is an actor, as well as his whole "family"... she reachs under her dress and unholsters a glock and starts shooting as "Homecoming Queen has got a gun" is rocking out on the loudspeakers!!!

/miss that song!

GetReal, i thank you for replying.
but......no, MKG, his family owns it. go check the schmo thread, as long as it is, it's in there somewhere. we had this argument back when it's on.

and thank you for providing the name. Before Survivor started, there was a report going around that an offshore casino had got in 20 bets on the Pearl Islands Survivor game from the Washington/Vancover area who placed bets on the show, which was odd considering that they receive maybe 5 total bets beforehand. . . So they shut down their betting until the game started. Then the report says tehre was a contestant from Washington...so they knew who won. i wish i could find that article. if i can, ill post it.

this isn't the best one, but here's the link

http://www.onlinecasinonews.com/ocnv...le.asp?id=4553

"Even before the first episode was televised for the current season, more than 15 people from the Vancouver, British Columbia have started placing bets with an offshore bookie. They are betting on survivor participant, Sandra Diaz-Twine, who was revealed as the winner during the show's season finale on CBS, earlier this week. "

So that is why people are sent away on vacation, or mysteriously "can't be reached" while the show airs.
that's my point....whatever it was.

I really hope the final episode is not a total let down after all this build up. If she does win the money I really don't think she had to do much to get that much money. Ok yeah public humiliation on tv but do you really think she deserves that much? I am thinking some of her family are in on it because if that was my family they would fight to the bitter end to not have themselves made fools of on national tv after they realised what was going on. I know they probably signed all kinds of legal documents at the begining giving the producers the rights etc but if you are signing things like that you have to be at least curious and her dad seems like he is the type of man who would want to know exactly what he was getting into before he went ahead and signed something. Who knows i could be completely wrong, it is just the impression I get.

ok, i conceed on the schmo part, but her'es a quote regarding family and speaking

Gould's parents, Jim and Bonnie, could not discuss the show or their son's participation in it because they signed papers promising to stay mum about "Joe Schmo." Another relative at Gould's home professed no knowledge about the series, saying no one was talking about it due to Gould's contractual obligations.

it was taped in june and the show didn't end until what, late october?
