Do you remember the movie star Sal Mineo? Do you remember the story of his affair with Bobby Sherman?
Really? But, then, the Teen magazines sold the images they wanted us to see.

I never heard about that rumor. I did see that Sal was the one who got Bobby his start in show biz. And that Sal was bisexual. That's okay. It doesn't matter to me. Bobby is married to wife no. 2 right now. I hope that he's happy. He sure brought me much happiness. Oh, Bobby started off on Shin Dig. Also, do you recall that other show he was on called Here Comes The Brides? Loved it. It's now on DVD. I may have to check them out again. David Soul was also on that show.

Sal's murder was a terrible thing. He was quite a talented man.

I always loved Mark Lyndsay, but he was actually my cousin's favorite idol. I liked him, but he was reserved for her! lol I just love to listen to their old music though. It still holds up, imo.

Check this out! Dick Clark was so handsome! This is ABBA and in the heyday of Bandstand for me.

Here's the very first chart hit for the great Sam Cooke & his only #1 hit on the Pop Charts.

What a classic! I could watch Bandstand everyday. I don't think I would tire of it!

I did watch Bandstand everyday at 4 PM. It came on right after Dark Shadows. At first it was a half hour then later expanded to an hour. I loved the dancers and tried to copy their moves and, of course, the guest singers...wow.

Very nice. Now you've gone and done it, razorbacker. I'm perusing youtube when I should be doing some housework. I get so easily sidetracked.

Sam Cooke was a bit before my time. I was alive but very young when he came on the scene. I hadn't realized how handsome he was in addition to having a beautiful voice. Not sure if "A Change Is Gonna Come" is his biggest hit, but it's my favorite. It's also a favorite of the oh so many contestants on American Idol, who try their best to tackle that iconic song.

Hadn't heard about Bobby Sherman and Sal Mineo, but Debb, I remember having posters of Bobby in my teen bedroom. It was early 70s , iirc, and my friend and I were big fans of his as well as his television show.

A Change Is Gonna Come stalled out at #31 on the Pop Charts in Feb. of 1965. It was the 2nd of 3 singles released posthumously. He had been killed in Dec. of 1964.

Speaking of "A Change Is Gonna Come", just went back and listened for the umpteenth time in my life to my favorite cover of ACIGC by Elliott Yamin. Love this! Even the emcee did as well. Listen to his comments at the end. LOL

I liked Elliot. It is good to see that so many of the Idol alums are getting to make music for a living.

By the way, Sam Cooke wrote this song & it is in The Grammy Hall Of Fame.
