Getting Older and Music

My parents watched it faithfully. My dad would have been over the moon to get a Christmas Card. He had a book that one of the female singers wrote and I know he read it about 10 times.
They used to try to get me to watch it by telling me that Bobby from the Mickey Mouse Club was on it (it was not the same. Bobby was grown up and not wearing mouse ears).

But I can and do listen to Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, etc. now which they couldn't have PAID me to listen to when I was a teenager.

When I was younger my mother used to pop in the 8-track, yes 8-track and she had Kenny Rogers, Barbara Streisand, Barry Manilow and I hated it..... Now I have all 3 of them on CDs!!

Oh, I had an 8 track player in my first car.

My mother, god bless her, had a Flatt and Scruggs 8 track that I loved. I probably never would have heard then otherwise as my dad was into Perry Como, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra.

So did I for about my first month of owning the car, then it broke and I was forced to drive around with one of these on the front seat.

I can remember listening to I'm Your Captain/Closer to Home by Grand Funk & the tape would change right in the middle of the song. 8 Track was the goofiest medium ever.

I didn't have any 8-tracks but my brother did. It always tripped me out when the tapes would change tracks right in the middle of a song. Dumb idea.
