On the day Barack Obama (August 4, 1961) was born Bobby Lewis was at #1 with 'Tossiní And Turniní

Obama shares his birthday with Louis Armstrong who had the 1968 UK No.1 single 'What A Wonderful World.'*

On the day Sarah Palin was born, The Beatles were at #1 with 'I Want To Hold Your Hand'.

And on that day (Feb 11th 1964), The Beatles made their live concert debut in the US at the Washington Coliseum. Over 350 police surrounded the stage to keep the 8,000 plus screaming fans in control. One police officer who found the noise so loud, stuck a bullet in each ear as ear plugs.

    Day I was born:

US - Sugar Shack - Jimmy Gilmer & The Fireballs
UK - Do You Love Me - Brian Poole and The Tremeloes
AUS - Blue Bayou - Roy Orbison

The only one I remotely recognize is Blue Bayou! I might know Do You Love Me but not by Brian Poole, the one I am hearing in my heads is some chick group. Might not be the same song tho. But Sugar Shack?

    And Happy New Year everyone!

Ha, in both the US and Australia, the number one song on August 27, 1993 was:

"(I Can't Help) Falling In Love With You" - UB40

Re: See what song was #1 on the day you were born

sorry, nanaslbkp - try these obscurities on for size. November 3, 1946 (1946 is the first year of the chart)

US: Rumors are Flying - Frankie Carle (never heard of it or him)
UK: Bless - The Ink Spots (them I remember...my folks had a couple of their 78's)

    When I turned 18 (1964)

US: Baby Love - The Supremes
UK: (There's) Always Somthing There To Remind Me - Sandi Shaw
AUS: Leader of the Pack - The Shangri Las

    On my 21st birthday (1967)

US: To Sir With Love - Lulu (The movie was huge that year)
UK: Massachusetts - The Bee Gees
AUS: The Last Waltz - Englebert Humperdink (the comparison fight with Tom Jones was underway)

Aw shucks...I was hoping for something cool from the Beatles or the Stones or the Animals; but the Beatles and Stones were just starting out and the Animals peaking.
