Re: See what song was #1 on the day you were born
My UK song is a song I've never heard of:
I don't wanna dance - Eddy Grant
As for the US I have Up Where We Belong with Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes.
Finally, the song I like the most (out of these three), for Australia Come on Eileen, Dexy Midnight Runners.
Bama, I don't see why you're not impressed. I like those songs!
Crit, Those were the days/Mary Hopkin was the first song released by the Beatles' label Apple. It was a huge hit (well, it was number one). I rather like it.
Re: See what song was #1 on the day you were born
Soldier Boy by the Shirelles in the US
Nutrocker-B Bumble and the Stingers in the UK
I've been Everywhere-Lucky Starr in Australia
Weird, I'd say that these songs had some influence. I married a Soldier Boy, I am interested in military history and ever nut in the world finds me eventually and I've done a LOT of traveling in my life.
Not that I've heard of any of the songs (unless Lucky Starr's is a version of Johnny Cash's "I've been Everywhere")
Re: See what song was #1 on the day you were born
Oh I like 'em but I was hoping for something besides Beatles..I'm not a HUGE Beatles fan! :peek I like Manny's and I love the 5th Dimension!
Re: See what song was #1 on the day you were born
I wasn't able to come up with anything on the actual day/month/year I was born. It was like it skipped a couple of years in between. :sad

AUS: "What About Me" - Moving Pictures ???
Re: See what song was #1 on the day you were born

Stuck On You - Elvis Presley (US)
Cathy's Clown - Everly Brothers (UK)
My Old Man's Like A Dustpan - Lonnie Donegan (AUS) whoever the heck that is! :shrug :lol
Mantenna has the hit list to die for! :up
Re: See what song was #1 on the day you were born
:rofl BoBo, I'm going to have to make a special effort to find your AUS song when I get home tonight!
Re: See what song was #1 on the day you were born
Lonnie Donnegan was from Scotland. He was part of the skiffle movement in the UK during the late 50" & early 60's. Google him & I presume you can find samples of "skiffle" music.
Here in the US he had a big hit in 1961 with that well known & world renowned song " Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It's Flavor On The Bedpost Overnight?"

bug, if you enter the date on the left side of the page, you should be able to find it. The right side of the page where you can enter day and month is just random "on this day" music history.
