    I'm an old man

There was a time when the "oldies" station played songs that were released before I was born. Not anymore.

This morning, I was tuning in the radio at the weight room. I was looking for a local classic rock station. You can't hear the radio from where you have to tune it (weird, huh?). So a young woman stood in the doorway and let me know when I had it tuned properly. Once it came in loud and clear, she said, "That's tuned in. Some sort of oldies station, right?" I froze and didn't know what to say. I wound up mumbling something like, "Yep, that's it." When I emerged and could hear the song being played, I heard "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac.

That's not an "oldie," is it?!? Is it? Bueller?

Oh, hell. I guess the moral of the story is I got old and never noticed.

What songs surprise you when you hear them on "classic rock" or "oldies" stations?
When you're ten years old and a car drives by and splashes a puddle of water all over you, it's hard to decide if you should go to school like that or try to go home and change and probably be late. So while he was trying to decide, I drove by and splashed him again. - Jack Handey

I know! I mean, they're still putting out albums, you know.

Hey, some might say New Wavers like Duran Duran are old--then I just slap them! Just kidding. Old or older just means more experienced, smarter, and finer! Remember what they say about wine...

Yep. If you're Steve Martin in The Jerk, you say, "Bring us some new wine! Take away this old stuff!"

Yep, I almost started crying when I heard Def Leppard, Aerosmith, and The Cult in 10 minutes on the local classic rock station.

I was in JC Penney a couple of weeks ago, & they were playing "Goin' Back to Cali" by LL Cool J over the intercom. And it was the real song, not an instrumental, or a Muzak version either! And then I was in there the other day, & they were playing "Panama" by Van Halen. Again, the real version. I was like WTF?!?! It was funny b/c I see all these old ladies shopping there & I bet that music was probably driving them insane! I was diggin' it though! Ah, the good 'ole days!
