Carrie has already won the Best Female Vocal in Country for Before He Cheats. She is now a 3 time Grammy Winner. Her performance slot is supposed to be second of the night. The song also won Best Country Song, but that goes to the writers.
So far Mandisa, Fantasia, Daughtry, & Kelly Clarkson did not win.
All these awards were not going to be televised & were given out a couple of hous ago.
Carrie looked amazing but I wasn't too thrilled with that performance of Before He Cheats.
Now that was a bluesed up version of the song that soared. Great vocals.
I quite liked it.Originally Posted by Unklescott;2789600;
I mean its obvious she sings live, so a few of the notes aren't as spectacular, but that still makes her one of the better live performers out there.
And I liked the way she managed to mainstream the song without, I think, ruining it.
As for how she looked? In the wake of winning Idol I've been somewhat shocked that she pulls off a "mildly bad girl" look so well.
I'm still waiting to see how they are gonna prop Winehouse up. I mean I've heard her voice has so far survived, but just keeping her upright might be an issue.
I must admit, I was shocked by the announcer voice telling us Miley Cyrus was even INVITED to this thing, much less that she's presenting. Blech!
Rihanna time. I wish she had more than one song anyone wanted to hear. It's a good song, but still...

Hey look, it's the single best part of "Across The Universe" plucked out of the weird somewhat ruinous mess that was the rest of it!
It's the same kid too.
Miley Cyrus time. Stay down lunch! Cyndi shouldn't be kissing up to her! The kid just plain can't sing--the little of it you hear on the radio is all post-production.
Amy Winehouse is FAR from a new artist, of course, but understandably she wins that award. The way they define the rules for that is SO wacky.
Jason Bateman? Where'd they dig him up? And why? I mean I like him, but I just don't get it. I saw these "My Grammy Moment" people on YouTube though, and all of them are pretty awesome actually.

There have been some great performances so far tonight. Loved The Beatles tribute.
Fantasia looks awful, what the heck did she do to her hair.
Is Jason Bateman on drugs? Cello with a thyroid problem? What???
For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.
- Virginia Woolf
I loved The Beatles tribute also. Fantasia? Not so much.Originally Posted by razorbacker;2789636;

I just found myself ruminating that at the time of the 25th Grammys would we ever have figured that Michael Jackson and Phil Spector would be (necessary) personna non-gratas at the 50th?
Hey, cool! Glowy weird ass sunglasses! And even weirder ass glowly LED people! This is actually kind of awesome. At least for the LOOK, even if I can't fully appreciate the artist.
EDIT - Okay, I asked and MJ got mentioned. In "rap".
And thank god Fergie decided on a performance where nobody could accuse her of lipsyncing. I've always thought she's a solid performer under the nonsense.
