I'm sure I'll get some argument on this one, especially since it was so popular, but I never thought Light My Fire by Jose Feliciano was nearly as good as The Doors original.

All I wanted was a 45, a stinking 45 - the record or the gun. I'd even settle for the damn malt liquor. - Al Bundy.
How could anyone dispute Will To Power's remake medley of Baby I Love Your Way/Freebird as the worst, soul sucking remake ever?
Stevie Nicks' version of Dave Matthews Band's "Crash Into Me" is crap also.
Hate Sheryl Crow's version of "Sweet Child O'Mine."
Have you heard D'yer Mak'er by her off Encomium?! Thats even worseOriginally Posted by seanboy316;3170588;

Madonna - American Pie (original by Dan McClean)
I am so with the rest of you on this one. It is a tragic remake and it made me mad that young people hearing it might not even know they were hearing a really unfortunate interpretation of a classic.
311 - Love Song (original by The Cure)
I heard this one for the first time last weekend. I was only half paying attention because the music sounded so much like the original to me, but at some point I realized to vocals were not up to par and checked to see who the artist was listed as and saw that it was 311. I already think that 311 has issues with whole "reggae" identity. This was awful, like "soft rock reggae". The Cure should not be tarnished in this manner!!!
Sonic Youth - Superstar (original by The Carpenters)
They definitely made this one "their own" but I think it is just weird.
...and the one that currently peeves me the most...
Miley Cyrus - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (original by Cyndi Lauper)
This was my absolute favorite song when I was in 4th grade. Cyndi Lauper was edgy & interesting at the time and the song is so wonderfully simple. It is just WRONG for the latest "pop teen sensation" to take this song a remake it into a ridiculous piece of drivel.

The biggest shame I heard was "Another Little Piece of my Heart", originally done by Janis Joplin, redone by Faith Hill. Faith Hill's version was really happy and bouncey and just plain WRONG.
Pink Elephants on Parade!
Smells Like Teen Spirit :: Murdered by Flyleaf luckily it hasn't been released, however you can find it on youtube.
That song was vh1's top song of the 90's...I don't know how a band would even think they could improve that song.
Now I felt Carrie Underwood doing it was worse lolOriginally Posted by SuperBrat;3173922;

In Carrie's defense, she probably never heard the original. Obviously, Faith Hill had. And should be ashamed.
And obviously that alll knowing name dropping Randy Jackson had never heard Faiths version. When he was asked about Carrie singing Faiths version he had a deer in the headlights look on his face. Seacrest blindsided him, it was great.Originally Posted by Blues Songstres;3174061;
