I think we should just stick to CD's and stuff. My history with iPods is that it's too complicated but easy at the same time; and yet I have had 6 iPods broken in basically one year. It's most likely; it's my natural clumsiness, but I do think we are moving to fast into the future...

It died AGAIN today. I had it on the charger all night, full battery power, and I turn it on to listen to my favorite song.

In the amount of time it will take you to read this paragraph, it had flashed "No battery power remains. Please recharge," and turned itself off. That make the 17th time it's done that to me in the 2 years I've had it.

That's more proof for all of you who still have CD players that you don't need to upgrade. Hell, get iTunes and buy a thousand blank CDs now, so that when CDs do make like Toms and Cruise (Ha ha, Cruise, get it? Make like Toms and Cruise? Tom Cruise? I know, it's lame. You don't need to tell me.), you'll still be able to listen to your favorite music.

It sounds like you need a new battery, Steph. They only last about a year if you are a moderate to heavy user. I replaced my Mini's battery for about $8 and a miniature screwdriver set. And then I handed it down to my husband and upgraded myself to a 30G video iPod. Worth every penny.

Sometimes my iPod has a short battery life when it is really cold. I just figure it just doesn't like the cold weather like me.

It certainly is. Especially if you have a convertor for movies. It makes it that much more worth while and cheaper.

I've had mine about 2 years now (20G) and just recently started using it daily but I can still get about 16 hours of play out of a single charge.

Since you mentioned it... has anyone replaced the battery on their 4th-generation iPods (the last black-and-white ones)? Mine isn't holding its charge all that well anymore, so I'm considering buying one of those DIY battery kits from a local store. Has anyone had any experience with those - do the replacement batteries work well, is it easy to install, etcetera?

Well seriously, that only 1 of about 15 problems that Apple won't recognize as real, and I've had the problem since the day I got it.
