Spears drops out of award ceremony
    Wednesday, November 29 2006, 15:39 GMT

    By David Cribb

Britney Spears has dropped out of her hosting role at this year's Billboard Awards.

The singer, who recently split from husband Kevin Federline, was due to co-host the ceremony with Paris Hilton.

A source at Fox television network, which sponsors the event, confirmed: "She pulled out, she didn't give a reason. We really don't know the reason. But we're disappointed she backed out."

At this late notice, it is likely Hilton will present the Las Vegas event on her own next week.

I have no clue here, I'm not a country gal...

Modern rock artist of the year

    AFI
    Red Hot Chili Peppers
    Shinedown

Modern rock single of the year

"Animal I Have Become," Three Days Grace
"Dani California," Red Hot Chili Peppers
"The Kill (Bury Me)," 30 Seconds To Mars

    Rock artist of the year

OH!!! Disturbed AND Nickelback? I can't take the pressure!

    Disturbed
    Nickelback
    Shinedown

And to my Craiggles- If you're reading this, I'M SORRY! I had to choose!

    Rock single of the year

"Animal I Have Become," Three Days Grace
"Dani California," Red Hot Chili Peppers
    "Speak," Godsmack

    Rock album of the year

    "All the Right Reasons," Nickelback
    "Back to Bedlam," James Blunt
"Stadium Arcadium," Red Hot Chili Peppers

I'd love for for Nickelback to take it all, but I know that isn't realistic, especially since they're uip against the Red Hot Chili Peppers- That's a competition I don't think they can take.

I know my Country predictions are probably way off, but I'm not a country gal at all, and I just went by 'Were they ever on the American Top 40?"

Mary J. Blige will take everything that she is nominated for... except the Best R&B/Hip-Hop single of the year, it's all Ne-Yo there.

With the Rock Album Of the Year, I can't really place any bets, they're all amazing, and I don't know. I think that Stadium Arcadium has a chance, because they're the Peppers, and they've been around forever, but Back To Bedlam was big with the girls, and James Blunt is new on the scene. So I had to go with Nickelback, becuase they are pretty much in the middle. Besides, once a Niclekback fan...

Paris Hilton cancels Billboard Awards appearance

With Britney backing out of hosting with Paris and now Paris backs out...
Who will be hosting this show? It's tomorrow night you know.

    http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercu...a/16148924.htm

Paris Hilton cancels Billboard Awards appearance over jokes
    Associated Press
LOS ANGELES - Paris Hilton canceled an appearance at next week's Billboard Music Awards because she didn't like jokes written for her, according to a spokesman.

"It is my understanding that some satirical references ridiculed some of her peers," her spokesman, Elliot Mintz, said in a statement. "Paris did not want to say anything that could appear hurtful or embarassing about people she knows."

Mintz said Hilton received a script Friday that contained material she found "objectionable." Representatives for Hilton and the awards show could not come to an agreement about the script's content so she decided to scrap the appearance, he said.

A call to Billboard was not returned early Saturday.

The Billboard Awards will be handed out Monday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The show will air live on Fox.

Oh no... This is the one show that I was actually looking forward to, if for no reason other than I wanted to see if Paris could actually do it. Oh well, I suppose they'll find somebody.

    Hey 11sstphanie

I decided to avoid copying all your predictions & stretching this out for pages. So, I thought I would let you know if you didn't already, that these awards are based strictly on sales data & chart position. Since there is no voting or judging, it should be fairly easy to get the winners together.

Based on what I can ascertain, I believe that the album of the year will be Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts, she has sold about 300k more than Nickleback, so she should win this one. That being said she should also win for Country Album of the year, & Female Country Artist. But, Rascal Flatts will most likely win Country act of the year because they have had 2 albums & their combined sales should propel them to the top. The one real mystery is why Carrie wasn't nominated in the newcomer category.

Well, goes to show you, I know nothing about Country music. Oh well.

And yes, I did know that they're based on sales, but I was still throwing in who I hope will win, even if I know that they have no chance of winning.
