By Karu F. Daniels, AOL Black Voices

Sources confirmed to The BV Newswire that Gerald Levert is dead of an apparent heart attack.

Immediate details on the death of the beloved R&B crooner were not known at press time.

He turned 40 years old in July.

One of several from the musical Levert family --his father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the legendary soul group The O'Jays -- he was a founding member and the lead singer of the 1990's R&B trio LeVert, who scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123."

Levert, born in Cleveland, Ohio, was also apart of R&B supergroup LSG, comprised of platinum selling R&B crooners Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill.

As a solo artist, Levert garnered a cult following with a string of R&B ballads ("I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got That Love") from his numerous album projects on East West/Elektra Records.

Over the years, the vocal powerhouse has collaborated with Patti LaBelle, Miki Howard, Kelly Price, Teena Marie, Chris Rock and with his father on many different occasions.

Oh, that's sad. I had no idea he was so young.

Hilary Duff and Joel Madden: Is It Over?
TUESDAY NOVEMBER 28, 2006 09:55AM EST

Is it over for the tattooed rocker and his teen queen? Good Charlotte's Joel Madden and Hilary Duff may have broken up after nearly 2½ years together.

Madden made a DJ appearance at Chicago hot spot Enclave on Wednesday night, and according to a source, told clubgoers he and Duff had split up.

A rep for Duff had no comment on the report, but the witness at Enclave tells PEOPLE that Madden "seemed pretty upset."

Madden, 27, and Duff, 19, only went public as a couple last year, with Madden co-producing and co-writing three tracks on her greatest-hits album, Most Wanted.

"I've found the perfect person," Madden told PEOPLE in October of Duff, 19"She's confident, she accepts me for my imperfections and she is good to me. I never have to question if she's going to be there, because I know she will be."

James Blunt In Love

Petra Nemcova & James Blunt: 'Very Much in Love'

Attachment 18683

Ignore those rumblings that Petra Nemcova and "You're Beautiful" singer James Blunt are on the rocks.

The model, 27, tells PEOPLE, "We're very much in love."

Nemcova and Blunt, 32, who showed a united front when they hit L.A.'s Hyde Lounge together hand-in-hand last week, met in December 2005 and started dating early this year.

Rumors circulated recently that they'd split – with some even speculating that Nemcova had hooked up with hip-hop mogul and fellow activist Russell Simmons.

But Nemcova says, "We never got separated. There was some stuff going on in the press, but it didn't come from a right source – obviously."

(A rep for Simmons told PEOPLE early this month, "Petra and Russell work on a lot of charitable initiatives together. They're just friends.")

Blunt will appear in Nemcova's upcoming charity book project, Colors of Love, which will feature photos of firefighters, doctors and others, including such celebrities as Bruce Willis, Lance Armstrong and Eva Mendes, all talking about the charities they support.

"It's about inspiring people to get involved in different causes and different charities," Nemcova says of the book.

Country singer admits killing penned-in bear
By Mark Stodghill
Duluth News Tribune

DULUTH, Minn. - Country Singer Troy Lee Gentry admitted Monday that he shot and killed a domesticated black bear in a 3-acre penned area and not in the wild, as he had claimed when he registered the animal with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Gentry pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Duluth to the misdemeanor crime of submitting a false hunting registration form after killing the bear.

Gentry, 39, of Franklin, Tenn., a member of the country singing duo Montgomery Gentry, had been scheduled to stand trial starting Monday but reached a plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney's Office.

He agreed to pay a $15,000 fine and forfeit the mounted bear, the bow he used to kill the bear, and all hunting, fishing and trapping privileges in Minnesota for five years.

Gentry, wearing glasses, a dark suit and tie, politely answered the questions of U.S. District Judge Paul Magnuson and Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Dees.

The singer admitted that he set up a hunting stand in a 3-acre pen that was surrounded by an electric fence. Dees told the court that Gentry had registered the bear as being shot in the wild six miles east of Sandstone.

"You know that is incorrect?" Dees asked Gentry.

"Yes, sir," Gentry replied.

The government alleged that Gentry's taking of the black bear in October 2004 was videotaped and later edited to appear as though Gentry killed the black bear in a "fair chase" hunting situation. According to the indictment, "Cubby" was a "trophy caliber, tame/captive-reared" black bear.

Gentry declined comment outside the courtroom. Minneapolis attorney Ron Meshbesher represented Gentry.

"People thought it was worse than murder," Meshbesher said. "It was a single charge that had to do with improper tagging, and that's all it ever was."

Gentry and co-singer Eddie Montgomery have sold about 4 million records. They won the Country Music Association's Vocal Duo of the Year in 2000. They are known for his such as "My Town" and "If You Ever Stop Loving Me."

The government alleged that Gentry paid Sandstone hunting guide Lee Marvin Greenly $4,650 to shoot the black bear known as "Cubby" on Greenly's 80-acre Minnesota Wildlife Connection property, where he also operates a wildlife photography business. The indictment said that Greenly charges individuals about $750 per guided hunt.

Immediately before Gentry entered his guilty plea, Greenly, 45, appeared before Magnuson and pleaded guilty to two felony violations of the Lacey Act in connection with his work as a licensed commercial hunting guide.

Greenly admitted he and his employees had guided some clients into prohibited areas of the Sandstone Unit of the Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge near Sandstone, where he maintained bear-baiting stations. One of his clients shot and killed two black bears in the prohibited area.

Charges brought against Gentry and Greenly were the result of an investigation by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Each of the two crimes Greenly pleaded guilty to is punishable by potential maximum penalties of five years in prison and $250,000 fines. The U.S. Attorney's Office said Greenly agreed to forfeit the two all-terrain vehicles used in the commission of his crimes in the prohibited regions of the wildlife refuge.

Magnuson ordered a presentence investigation for both defendants. Sentencing dates have not been set.

She was 16 and he was 24 when they got together, did they really expect it to last forever????

But seriously, 2 1/2 years isn't anything to shake a stick at, especially in America right now, with such a high divorce rate.

well, my sister has a new reason to love baseball. Nick Lachey is one of the 3 new owners of local minor league baseball team, the Tacoma Rainiers.

Singer Nick Lachey to join Rainiers ownership

KING5.com Staff

SEATTLE - Singer Nick Lachey is about to become part owner of the Tacoma Rainiers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.

The pop singer who was once married to Jessica Simpson wore the Rainiers' jersey as he was introduced Wednesday in Tacoma

"Baseball is a true passion of mine, Tacoma is a growing city and I have every intention of playing an active ownership role in the Rainiers as we continue to grow," said Lachey.

As part of the acquisition, the ownership group has signed on for a two-year lease and affiliation agreement that has been approved by the Pacific Coast League of Professional Baseball Clubs, Minor League Baseball and Major League Baseball.

Lachey, along with Kirby and Bob of Schlegel Sports, plans to be personally involved in the Rainiers, interested in both the business and on-field success of the team and in the community aspects as well. Future plans for the Tacoma Rainiers include the formation of a charitable foundation Nick Lachey will be involved with, and the incorporation of new and interactive game entertainment for families and kids, including concerts, promotions, autograph sessions and post-game activities.

The Rainiers are a member of the 16-team Pacific Coast League of Professional Baseball Clubs, the PCL. The PCL, together with the International League, is one of two Triple-A leagues affiliated with MLB

Lance Bass & Reichen Lehmkuhl Split
MONDAY DECEMBER 04, 2006 01:00PM EST

By Brian Orloff, Julie Jordan and Mark Gray

Lance Bass and Reichen Lehmkuhl have ended their relationship, Bass's spokesperson has confirmed to PEOPLE.

Recent speculation that the pair had broken up began after Bass was spotted without Lehmkuhl at a party on Friday at Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas.

Bass, 27, first revealed his relationship with Lehmkuhl, 32, when he admitted he was gay on the cover of PEOPLE in July. "I'm more liberated and happy than I’ve been my whole life," Bass said at the time. "I'm just happy."

In July, the former 'N Sync star said that he and Lehmkuhl had been dating for a few months, and that the two were friends first. "Actually, it's funny, he was my real estate agent," Bass told PEOPLE.

Lehmkuhl, a model-actor-Amazing Race winner, was equally enthusiastic – and supportive of Bass's decision to come out and publicly discuss their relationship. "I'm just really proud of Lance and the decision he made," he told PEOPLE. "He did it all on his own and I just stood by and supported him. It's just been great."

Despite rumors that the couple were having problems, Bass told PEOPLE in August, "We are very happy."

During their relationship, the two made many public appearances together, including red-carpet events and Lehmkuhl's book release party for his memoir Here's What We'll Say: Growing Up, Coming Out, and the U.S. Air Force Academy, in which he writes about his experience of being gay in the military. "I was the first one to read it," Bass told PEOPLE last month.

Bass is developing an Odd Couple-inspired sitcom pilot with former 'N Sync-er Joey Fatone in which his character will be gay and has a role in the upcoming comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.
