    U2. While I can appreciate certain songs, I wouldn't call myself a fan. In fact, I don't even own a U2 album. Don't particularly care to, either.

    The Beach Boys, however, are NOT underrated. Excibit A: Pet Sounds, arguably the best album ever to have been recorded. I think many Beach Boys-haters tend to think about them in terms of their more light-weight, surfer-y stuff.

    I concur. The production on that album is just head-explodingly amazing. Besides, I can't knock any group that incorporates a theremin.

    Geek, you might check out U2's latest, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. Some of their older stuff can put me to sleep (and you can mix the verses and choruses of different songs and no one will notice), but I really quite enjoy this one.
