Coldplay tops worldwide sales for 2005
Coldplay's X&Y was the world’s bestselling album in 2005 in an industry that saw overall sales drop by three per cent.
A report from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which represents hundreds of music companies around the world, said X&Y sold 8.3 million copies globally. That topped Mariah Carey’s The Emancipation of Mimi, which sold 7.7 million and 50 Cent’s The Massacre with 7.5 million.
