Cool Songs That Commercials Made Popular

We all know that the radio makes songs really popular, but how about commercials?

A song that sticks in my head when I think about this thread is Jerk It Out by The Caesers from the Ipod Shuffle commercial.

Another is Flat Beat by Mr Ozio from the Levi's commercial.

Actually I HATE when commercials hijack good songs. It ruins the song for me because then when I hear the song on the radio or CD, then all I can think about is the stupid commercial.

I HATE the fact that all the commercials that target the Baby Boomer Generation are using songs that I once loved and now can't stand like
stuff by Led Zepplin, The Band, The Rolling Stones, etc.

Where are the jingle writers? Shouldn't they all get together and protest this travesty? It's taking jobs away from them to use the rights to popular songs.

The only song I can think of that, for me, sort of fits this thread is "We've Been Had" by The Walkmen. It was in some car commercial (Saturn? VW?) two or three years ago, and was the only song I've ever had to hunt down because it was just that good.

My favorite of all time has to be "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" for Coke. It and the commercial was wonderful. My sisters and I used to sing it in harmony for fun.

I think they could bring it back with an updated video, NOT changing the song in any way, and it would still be a hit!

It absolutely kills me that Iggy Pop's "Lust For Life" is used in those cruise ship commercials. I didn't mind it in "Trainspotting", as it fit more with the Iggy I know and love.
