I love Christmas music. ALL of it. A few of my favorite classic carols are:
    • Ave Maria
    • O Holy Night
    • What Child Is This
    • Coventry Carol
    Some contemporary favorites:
    • River - Joni Mitchell
    • 2000 Miles - The Pretenders
    • Happy Christmas (War Is Over) - John Lennon
    Some favorite albums:
    • The Ave Maria Album Various Artists
    • A Merry 1940s Christmas - Various Artists
    • The Narada Nutcracker
    • Christmas - Mannheim Steamroller
    • Heavenly Christmas - Various Artists

I use to drive my coworkers nuts each year with my feeble attempt at singing Christmas tunes. And since I knew it drove them nuts, I'd make up my own lyrics along the way. :santagrin The songs "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" and "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow" come to mind. *sigh*

I dug this thread up from a couple years ago Your Favorite Christmas Carols and remembered our own resident musician posted a recording of one of my favorites. Ladies and gentlement, may I present Maestro Manny and The Colorado Springs Children's Chorale. . . *drum roll*

Dagwood - I LOVE LOVE this song - I've heard it by Collin Raye with an opening by Johnny Cash. Not sure if it's the only version of this song, but I love it!!! I love Collin Raye - his version of Away in a Manger with his daughter is awesome - I love his Christmas album.

I also need to add I LOVE the record (yup, I had the record) of the Little Drummer Boy by the Harry Simeone Chorale, which included Go Tell It On the Mountain and The First Noel - both wonderful versions.

ETA: lyrics to It Could Happen Again

    It Could Happen Again
    Collin Raye

    One frozen night in 1914,
at the height of World War 1
    the unthinkable happened.
All along the entire Western front
the soldiers laid down their weapons
    in an unofficial ceasefire
    to celebrate Christmas.
They exchanged gifts and saw each other as brothers
and that peace lasted for two more days,
when they were ordered back to battle.
    In those few days, however,
men remembered the reason for Christmas amongst the devastation
and it's a story that should never be forgotten.

    Through the smoke-filled night
    Silence rose from both sides
    Across a bloody battlefield
It was a cold Christmas Eve
    In 1914
To those who were there it seemed unreal.
As time stood still the spirit moved the soldiers
    To lay down their arms
    Raise their voice in song
And pretend for a while the war was over

    If it could happen then
    It could happen again
    A world torn apart
    Could join hands and hearts
    To celebrate His birth
    And peace on this Earth
    If for one magic night
We could find again a reason not to fight
    Maybe there's a chance
    This time it might last

    As opposing sides approached
    Through broken words they spoke
It wasn't long before they felt at ease
    They shared their cigarettes
What they had they used as gifts
    They didn't feel like enemies
With candles lit they stood shoulder to shoulder
And on that field they found
    True common ground
And as they prayed they dreamed the war was over

    If it could happen then
    It could happen again
    A world torn apart
    Could join hands and hearts
    To celebrate His birth
    And peace on this Earth
    If for one magic night
We could find again a reason not to fight
    Maybe there's a chance
    This time it might last

    If it could happen then
    It could happen again

    First verse is spoken.

One of the best that I don't hear often enough is I Believe In Father Christmas by Emerson Lake & Palmer.

A Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney absolutely turns my mood sour.

    of my favorites are:

River(as sung my Robert Downey Jr)
What Are You Doing New Year's Eve
O Holy Night (Kelly Clarkson or Josh Groban)
