I voted for Hendrix...but then I thought about it a little more, and I should have just voted for Eddie to get into heaven. That way, when I arrive in Hell for all the things I've done in my life, at least I would get to hang out with Hendrix, Clapton, Santana, Page and SRV...I think their music would make the heat bearable.
Why do assume they went to Hell?

Eric Clapton easily got my vote....I have far too many of his cds not to vote for him and of course Tears in Heaven and the story behind that song.

    I'm guessing/voting for Carlos Santana.

I wouldn't bar the gate to the others, but I'd let Carlos scoot around the pack.

Well if there was only one allowed, Clapton no question about it.

I'm going with Hendrix. Dying young and thus having no woosy songs or strange collaborations was the clincher.

Tha Allmans were legendary for "The show going on...& on .... & on", I think it was closing night of the Fillmore East when they were still playing as the sun came up the next morning.

Since my answer was winning, I figured I'd go ahead and close the poll.

I thought Jimi Hendrix would win, obviously, and John said Eddie Van Halen.

To be completely fair, he also said he thought Jimi Hendrix would win, but his answer, for himself personally, would be EVH.

Also, to be more completely fair, I worded the original question really badly. (See post #16 for the explanation. ) All I really wondered was which of those guys you people thought was the best, and when I brought up the "commercial" answer, I just meant that I was going to shy away from any lesser-known, non-household-name types. But I'm glad I worded it the way I did, because it made for some cool replies.

    Thanks for voting, everyone!

I'm curious.. has John ever banned a moderator from the Fort before?
