Ad Astra Per Aspera
I would absolutely take Carrie over Fantasia. Carrie just has an amazing voice. Fantasia's voice does not appeal to me at all. I'm not sure yet if I want Carrie to win but I really enjoy listening to her sing.

Reasons why I love Carrie
The reasons why I love Carrie:
1. She's beautiful
2. Can talk English without slurring words
3. She's young
4. Isn't refined so she can be molded
5. Never shows us what number she is when Ryan is telling her number to
vote (that's my #1 reason for voting for her)
6. She doesn't have any baggage (no babies, no assaults, no shoplifting, no
7. She's nice and a little old-fashioned (probably saving herself for marriage)
8. Oh yeah....and SHE CAN SING PEOPLE!!!!

I dislike country music fully and completely , but I can see Carrie is one of the best simple talents on the show. It was clear from her first audition how good she was. She rarely sings an off note which in the Idol world is an amazing feat. Simple talent as a singer may not be enough to pull off a win , but I wouldn't be upset if she did. In the history of this show there are many who have come far who absolutely could not sing, and she has at least shown she can do that..

SoccerMom, I agree with every word. Let's see if talent really IS enough to win.

She is a beautiful young lady with a great singing voice & if that isn't enough for folks, Oh Well. Her future still looks to be the brightest of any of the folks this season.

I liked Carrie in the beginning. I agree she has a GREAT voice, she can sing.
BUT she has ZERO personality, and week after week, that's getting on my last nerves. Also, she sings, but doesn't TRY, meaning she doesn't do anything to make herself better, to really showcase herself. The other contestants, they are not as good singers, but week after week, they try new things and try to be better(Vonzell being the perfect example).
Carrie is just as good as she was in the beginning, not one ounce better. It's like seeing the same performance every week.
I know most of you won't want to agree with me, but just think about it.
She may very well take it home, but I won't be buying her album or watching her b/c I don't want to be bored to tears....

Maybe she has to learn a little showmanship. But I thought the object was to sell music, not something else. What maximizes vote totals doesn't necessarily correlate to a better CD.
Remember Kelly Clarkson on SNL a couple of months ago. Just stood there and sung. Her handlers dyed her hair and put her in clothing that made her look like an uncomfortable pop tart. She didn't wave her arms around or dance a hoe down or whatever it is these days that requires so many singers to use headsets.
But she sounded very good, and is still selling concert tickets and CDs and still will be long after Fantasia's 15 minutes are over.
I hope Carrie doesn't change a thing. I make fun of her automaton-like movement and facial expressions just like the rest of you. But I hope she wins, and believe she's the one most likely to make CDs worth listening to.

Its not neccessarily about dancing or waving your arms its about expression and emoting what the song is about which can be done vocally as well. How can you sing about love or heartbreak or even happiness or whatever and not be able to bring that through in the song? I can listen to some artists on a CD and really feel what they are singing without seeing them. Just because you can hit every note doesn't make you great.
But I do think people are overblowing this issue. I said from day one with LaToya or Tamyra or even Jen Hudson that it should be a singing competition while some considered them cold and therefore unworthy of winning. Carrie can sing and probably has the best vocals in the group. She just doesnt excite me and isnt my style. I like more soulful, deeper singers. But if Carrie were to win (and she will probably win), I wouldnt be upset because she has the talent to back it up (unlike Diana or someone in the past). But it would be very ho hum for me.
