    Motley Crue to reunite

    I'm so excited...

80's Metal Band Motley Crue to Reunite

    Tue Dec 7,12:08 AM ET

By ALEX VEIGA, Associated Press Writer

LOS ANGELES - The original members of 1980s glam metal band Motley Crue, which made hard living and wild sexcapades a centerpiece of their music and their lives, on Monday announced a world reunion tour.

After a five-year hiatus, the big-haired, leather-clad Crue members are eager to slip back into the music, if not the lifestyle depicted in hit rockers like "Girls, Girls, Girls" and "Smokin' in the Boys' Room."

The band arrived Monday at the Hollywood Palladium in a hearse, sporting eye makeup. About 1,000 people cheered as the group opened with "Dr. Feelgood" following a news conference.

With support from cable music television network VH1, the band vocalist Vince Neil, drummer Tommy Lee, guitarist Mick Mars and bass player Nikki Sixx plan a world tour beginning in February in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The band will hit more than 60 cities in North America during two legs and play several festivals in Europe before wrapping up the tour in southeast Asia and Australia.

The band will release a double-CD greatest hits compilation with three new songs entitled "Red, White & Crue" in February.

"We're just ready to go out and rock," Neil said at the news conference. "We're still Motley. We still rock."

The band originally formed in 1981, but its members have been known less in recent years for their music and more for their personal troubles, particularly Lee.

He has been in and out of probation for years stemming from charges in 1998 that he abused ex-wife actress Pamela Anderson, with whom he has two children. He also faced charges of child abuse and a firearms violation.

In 1989, Sixx nearly died from a heroin overdose. Mars is recovering from hip replacement surgery to treat a degenerative illness.

I wonder how Mick will hold up...from reading The Dirt, he was always in pain. I need to Google and see if Vince is in tour shape.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions, John Vince is looking like Jon Lovitz lately...no offense to Mr. Lovitz. This is great news, though!

To be honest, I'm not terribly impressed with their new song. Vince's voice is totally different than his signature sound back in the old days. He's lost his range, probably due to heavy drug and alcohol abuse over the years (but he's since cleaned up).

Nah, Vince isn't trying to hide his gut in this shot, really, he isn't! For me, it was never about Vince's singing...I really dug Tommy and Nikki's rhythm section work.

    Alright, alright...metal head posting...

I saw the whole thing on Larry King. NO, I [u]do not[/i] watch LK, I can't stand the guy..but I was channel flipping last night in bed and he was talking "live" to the band members. So, naturally, being a metal-head, I stopped to watch the reunion concert!
What's his name...Steve-O was there back stage and kept hopping on Tommy, I couldn't figure it out...until I saw Tommy point to his stomach again and Steve-O rubbed up against him again. (odd? Yes! & WHY Steve-O?? ) There was blood all over him! So, that's what he was doing..jumping on him to smear blood. Why he'd want that on him is beyond me.

Anyway.. the audience didn't know what band it was that they were there to see reunited, and quite honestly... the initial reaction wasn't as great as it could be. But, eventually everyone got 'into it'.

Vince was trying really hard to get the audience going with thee 'ole patented, "ARE YOU READY TO ROCKKKK????" over and over and OVER in the beginning! It was pretty funny, cuz they weren't really screaming back.
Anyway..he did lose his voice some..it wasn't as great as back in the good ole Motley Crue days.
That's to be expected though I guess. They weren't bad at all actually. I would buy the new CD, well...because I'm a metal head and curious!
