In The Garden was my (maternal) grandmother's favorite song, and they played that at her funeral as well. That one always gets me. As for hymns, that one and How Great Thou Art, and Peace In the Valley. Guaranteed.

The Greatest Man I Never Knew by Reba McEntire--that one reminds me of my (paternal) grandfather.

I'll Stand by You by the Pretenders and Home by Don Henley, but those make me cry in a good way.

I love hymns. Grew up singing them in church. I later sung at weddings and funerals. Beyond the sunset was a funeral standard. How Great Thou Art is one of my favorites too.
scarlett I loved to hear Elvis Presley sing Peace in the Valley.

My mom used to play Elvis hymns a lot when I was growing up. He does the best version I've heard of many of them.

I'm the same way about "Amazing Grace," which was sung at my father's funeral. Always makes me tear up a bit.

Another one to add to the pile:

    It's Only Love- Heather Nova

It was featured on one of the final episodes of Buffy and it's a tear-jerker in a good way.

ohhhh I'm listening to it now.... has anyone heard Nathalie Archangel (from the 80s-90s) - she was, I think, a prodigy of Howard Jones, and they did a duet called "Don't Heal Clean."
That song always brings me to tears!!!!!!!!!!

That's one of my favorite hymns, Muduh!

I have a new sob song: "Not for all the love in the world" - The Thrills
"Look, you love me, and I love you. Maybe in a different time, a different place, this would work out. But we both know that only one of us is leaving this room alive, and I'm the one holding the flame thrower." - Film Fakers

Tell Laura I Love Her *used* to make me cry when I was a kid. The realization that it was just a scare tactic against premarital sex and the hilarious (in my opinion anyway) remake by Pearl Jam cured me of that.

But, for some reason, Little Digger by Liz Phair makes me teary.

Bad songs on heavy rotation make me cry.

As far as specific songs that I like that get me a little *choked up.

'Bookend's by Simon And Garfunkel and 'At Seventeen' by Janis Ian.
