Brad Paisley and Alison Kraus. She has an amazing voice. The video is incredible as well. And for you Ricky Schroeder fans, he stars in it.

    Whiskey Lullaby

She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette
She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin' to forget
We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time
But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind
    Until the night

    Chorus:
He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away her memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength he had to get up off his knees
We found him with his face down in the pillow
With a note that said I'll love her 'til I die
And when we buried him beneath the willow
The angels sang a whiskey lullaby.

The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind
    Until the night

    Chorus: (Both)
She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away his memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby.
You got to cry without weeping. Talk without speaking. Scream without raising your voice.- U2

Brad Paisley, Lucy. I absolutely love everything that Alison Krauss does as I agree that her voice is just haunting. She's fabulous.

She's among my favorite singers too, Broadway.

I totally agree as to the haunting quality of her voice you point to, Broadway.

When it comes to Alison Krauss, I'm hard pressed when it comes to choosing a song that moves me the most, at least those songs where she is doing the primary, if not exclusive, vocals. When she is joined by several other voices I don't feel the same effect.

Grinning at your mention of "Those hair bands", speedbump.

I've missed U2's version of Unchained Melody. I have to expand my horizons away from what my local stations serve up, there is far too little variation.

"Somebody" by Depeche Mode and "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabrielle, but only because I remember why they made ME cry

    MacArthur Park

There will be another song for me
    For I will sing it
There will be another dream for me
    Someone will bring it
I will drink the wine while it is warm
And never let you catch me looking at the sun
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
    You'll still be the one

I will take my life into my hands and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes and I will lose it
I will have the things that I desire
And my passion flow like rivers through the sky
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
    I'll be thinking of you
    And wondering why

No-one's mentioned this one yet, and I know it's on all sorts of Worst Song Ever lists, but the above two verses make me cry every time. Original Richard Harris version - his voice cracks and I have to cry along with him.
