Re: Songs that make you cry

A friend just got me to listen to a song called:
Long Trip Alone by Dierks Bentley.

I swear I've heard it recently on tv. Maybe House? Anyone?

It definetly brought tears to my eyes. It's very haunting though and I've listened to it several times now.

    John Lennon's Starting Over.
I can never hear it without thinking of it in context of John Lennon's death. I remember the anticipation of hearing something new from John after an absence of 5 years and later getting up for school and the radio announcing that John Lennon had been shot and then playing Starting Over.

That's how it was with me William....I can remember laying in bed late at night and them announcing that John Lennon had been shot and killed and then the DJ playing that song. I can remember running downstairs and my dad was still awake and me telling him what I had heard.

I still to this day have not played the album since his death. I just can't bring myself to cue it up. Too sad, too senseless.

Re: Songs that make you cry

I was driving home today and the radio started playing Alan Jackson's "Where were you when the world stopped turning"......needless to say, I sobbed the entire way home!

I can still remember him singing that song on the country music awards right after 9/11 and just being amazed that he had such a God given talent to write a song about what I'm sure the majority of us were thinking and to put it in terms that we all could understand!

I've never forgiven ABC and Monday Night Football for allowing Howard Cosell to announce Lennon's death on the air that night.

I hated Cosell before that anyway and hearing his annoying voice say those words was awful.

And I can't listen to Starting Over anymore either without tearing up.

Two that make me cry... "Go Rest High On That Mountain" - Vince Gill. Heard it the first time shortly after the unexpected death of my brother. I still can't hear it without tearing up.

    "Sand & Water" - Beth Nielsen-Chapman.
