    Amazing Lyrics

I wanted to post a verse from one of my favorite songs. Seemed like a good idea for a thread.

~~RZA of Wu-Tang Clan in Hellz Wind Staff~~

Drown in problems the Heineken's imported from Holland
Gettin boosted off a killer bee pollen, stone columns
get trapped by drum tracks mac loud as gun claps
Pen'll grab the death of a thousand dumb tacks
The Wu Sensai fold, it beez the Wind Ninja scroll
Soul edged blade controls your inner pole
The thick loop, fruit from the forbidden tree root
I stay secluded in the Chamber trainin new recruits
with Fatal Guillotine, the black hooded team what it means
when bullets scream from the hot glock like rock from a sling
Pushed through like George Bush Operation Whoops
Shots get popped on the block cause them blood to gush
From digital to analog, the Wu-Wear camouflage
The entourage squad we stompin through Zanzibar
like herds of cattle, RZA plays the wall like a shadow
    Connectin Brooklyn/Shaol like the Verrazanno-Narrows

Gah, I have so many I could post here.

OK, I'll just start with a little bit from Spark by Tori Amos... my faves by her change allll the time.

she's convinced she could hold back a glacier
but she couldn't keep baby alive
doubting if there's a woman in there somewhere
    here
    here
    here
you say you don't want it again
and again but you don't really mean it
you say you don't want it
    this circus we're in
but you don't you don't really mean it you don't really mean it
if the divine master plan is perfection
maybe next i'll give judas a try
trusting my soul to the ice cream assassin

And Cooling, by Tori, which always stays in my faves list.
but do i hate what she is
or do i want to be her
and don't we love something fresh
    anything new, virgin

woman, you got too many brambles
    hiding under these bushes
woman, you got too many brambles
but i always liked a good storm
    always good for a storm

    That's just snippets.

You guys will think I'm terribly out of date, but I really like the lyrics to Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young's "Helplessly Hoping" (and the harmony ain't bad either).

Helplessly hoping her harlequin lover's nearby
    Awaiting a word
Gasping at glimpses of gentle true spirit
He runs, wishing he could fly
Only to trip at the sound of goodbye

Wordlessly watching, he waits by the window
And wonders at the empty place inside
Heartlessly helping himself to her bad dreams
He worries, did he hear a goodbye
    Or even hello

    They are one person
    They are two alone
    They are three together
    They are for each other

Stand by the stairway, you'll see something
Certain to tell you confusion has its cost
Love isn't lying, it's loose in a lady
Who lingers, saying she is lost
    And choking on hello

    They are one person
    They are two alone
    They are three together
    They are for each other

I love CSN&Y, several of my faverate songs are by them (or by CSN)

    Sothern Cross

Got out of town on a boat goin' to southern islands.
Sailing a reach before a followin' sea.
She was makin' for the trades on the outside,
And the downhill run to Papeete Bay.

Off the wind on this heading lie the Marquesas.
We got eighty feet of the waterline.
    Nicely making way.
In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you.
But on a midnight watch I realized why twice you ran away.

Think about how many times I have fallen,
Spirits are using me, larger voices callin'.
What heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten.

I have been around the world,
    lookin' for that woman, girl,
    who knows love can endure.
And you know it will. And you know it will.

When you see the Southern Cross for the first time,
You understand now why you came this way.
'Cause the truth you might be runnin' from is so small.
But it's as big as the promise, the promise of a coming day.

So I'm sailing for tomorrow, my dreams are a dyin'.
And my love is an anchor tied to you, tied with a silver chain.
I have my ship and all her flags are a flyin'
She is all that I have left and music is her name.

Think about how many times I have fallen,
Spirits are using me, larger voices callin'.
What heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten.

I have been around the world,
    lookin' for that woman, girl,
    who knows love can endure.
And you know it will. And you know it will.

So we cheated and we lied and we tested
And we never failed to fail, it was the easiest thing to do.
    You will survive being bested.
But somebody fine will come along make me forget about loving you.
    At the Southern Cross.
I could go east, I could go west, it was all up to me to decide. Just then I saw a young hawk flyin' and my soul began to rise. ~Bob Seger

Here's another good verse. It's from a great song RZA did with Isaac Hayes. Very emotional song. Be warned that it's a little rough, but I tried to edit out the profanities. Hope I didn't miss any.

    ~~RZA of Wu-Tang Clan in "I Can't Go to Sleep"~~

I can't go to sleep, I can't shut my eyes
They shot the father at his mom's building seven times
They shot Malcolm in the chest front of his little seeds
Jesse watched, as they shot King on the balcony
Exported Marcus, Garvey cause he tried to spark us
with the knowledge of ourselves, and our forefathers
Ohh Jacqueline you heard the rifle shots cracklin
Her husband head in her hair, you tried to put it back in
AMERICA'S WATCHIN, BLOOD STAINED INK BLOTCHES
MEDGAR TOOK ONE TO THE SKULL FOR INTERGRATING COLLEGE
WHAT'S THE SCIENCE? SOMEBODY? THIS IS TRICK KNOWLEDGE
THEY TRY TO KEEP US ENSLAVED AND STILL SCRAPE FOR DOLLARS
Walkin through Park Hill, drunk as a ****
Lookin around like, these DEVILS, I'm ready to break this world down
They got me trapped up in a metal gate, just stressed out with hate
And just, give me no time to relax, and use my mind to meditate
What should I do? Grab a blunt or a brew?
Grab a two-two and run out there AND PUT THIS ****** VIOLENCE IN YOU?
    I can't go to sleep, I can't shut 'em son.. I..

Mod, you haven't gotten SW yet? Aaah! Shame on you.

Part of Here In My Head, by Tori:

i held your hand at the fair
and even forgot what time it was
    and even thomas jefferson
    wasn't born in your backyard
    like you have said and
maybe i'm just the horizon you run to
    when she has left
    you and me here
    alone on the floor
    you're counting my feathers
    as the bells toll
you see the bow and the belt
and the girl from the south
    all favorites of mine
    you know them all well
and spring brings fresh little puddles
    that makes it all clear
    makes it all...
    hey, do you know
    hey, do you know
what this is doing to me?
    oh, here...
    here...
    here. in my head
