Buffett and Manson in the same post. I'm in love.

And that's one of my top 10 favorite Buffett songs. Although this one is #2 on my list (I'll save #1 for later):

Last Mango in Paris - Jimmy Buffett

I went down to Captain Tony's
To get out of the heat
I heard a voice call out to me
    "Son come have a seat"

I had to search my memory
As I looked into those eyes
Our lives changed like the weather
    But a legend never dies

He said I ate the last mango in Paris
I took the last plane out of Saigon
Took the first fast boat to China
And Jimmy there's still so much to be done

I had a third world girl in Buzios
With a pistol in each hand
    She always kept me covered
As we moved from land to land

I had a damn good run on Wall Street
With my high fashion model wife
I woke up dry beneath the African sky
Just me and my Swiss Army knife

We shot the breeze for hours
As the sun fell from the sky
And like the sun he disappeared
    Before my very eyes

    It was somewhere past dark-thirty
As I went back to the head
I read upon the dingy walls
The words the old man said

I ate the last mango in Paris
I took the last plane out of Saigon
Took the first fast boat to China
And Jimmy there's still so much to be done

One of my favs, Steve Poltz

    Everything About You

    I love everything about you
I love the way you comb your hair
And I love the way you sashay in the room
Your perfume lingers in the air

    I love everything about you
    Oh about you

I love the way you lick your lips dear
You got fireworks in your head
And I love the way you bring me water
When I'm thirsty in your bed

I love every thing about you
    Oh about you

You were surely kissed by angels
Look at the freckles on your face
You've got the devil in your eyes
    You disappear without a trace

I love sneaking up behind you
When you're looking in the mirror
The way your eyes lock into mine dear
    Without guilt & without fear

    I love everything about you
    Oh about you

    My Carphone's On The Pill

My carphone's on the pill & my girlfriends got call waiting
Satan's in the bagels & my toaster's maturbating
My computer has hard drive & my disc is always floppy
My xerox has the runs & it won't stop shitting copies
    Help me

My paper wants some coffee & my mother needs recycling
My fax is getting acne & it needs some tetracycline
My dog is late for school & my son pissed on the floor
The percolators drooling & the baby's at the store
    Help me

The TV's watching me & my control is in remote
Grandpa's sucking carpet & the vacuum stole my coat
The birds are smoking cocaine & my son lives in a nest
My daughter just got neutered & my cat just got fake breasts
    Help me

Yeah TV rules the house now, Mr Cartwright is the boss
Ginger's kissing Mary Ann & I'm in love with Hoss
Thurston Howell the 3rd is lusting after Mary Tyler....
More is always less & Mr. Douglas is a styler
Green Acres is the place to be, that Eb is such a dork:
He hit Arnold the pig & so tonite we're eating pork
    Help me

My coffee lost it's dentures & my father needs re heating
My wife is always empty & the fridge is always eating
The dust pan's playing marbles & the kids are in the sink
The heater won't quit farting & my mental health it stinks
    Help me

My car went to the movies & I'm locked in my garage
My bathroom went to art school, now I piss in a collage
My blender stole my credit cards & bought some fancy duds
Everyone has Patriot's, but all I have is scuds
    Help me

My carphone's on the pill & my girlfriend's got call waiting
Satan's in the bagels & my toaster's masturbating
    Help me please

    Silver Lining

    Muffins in the toaster
    I got my raspberry jam
    My grandpa was a sailor
And he came onto this land
And he was looking for gold
    A pretty hand to hold
    Or some cards to fold
    At least that's what
    I've been told

    Silver Lining
    Silver Lining
    Where'd you go?

    I turn on my TV
They got talking heads in space
It used to be so easy
    To have a little faith
I used to rely on luck
    To earn an honest buck
    I didn't feel so stuck
    I didn't limp around
    Like John Kruk

    Silver Lining
    Silver Lining
    Where'd you go ?

    We used to have hope
Now we got soap on a rope
    We used to have dreams
    Now we got
    Overpaid baseball teams
    We got grocery baggers
    Graffiti taggers
    Golf-ball shaggers
    Go team go

    Silver Lining
    Silver Lining
    Where'd you go?

My landlord knocks upon my door
    She's got that payday face
I swear to God she should be paying me
    To live inside this place
It's filled with sharks and fins
    Whose double chins
    Say thicken your skin
Child if you want to win

    Silver Lining
    Silver Lining
    Where'd you go?

I fix myself some herbal tea
    Cause it's healthier they say
Well, healthier ain't half as fun
I'll take a cold beer any day
I used to have dysfunctional fun
    In the cancerous sun
    With my co-dependent hon
    Eating greasy greasy hotdogs
    On a buttered up bun

    Silver Lining
    Silver Lining
    Where'd you go?

Haven't got the new Tupac yet, Rox. Here's another good oldie. I can really relate to some of the lyrics. This one will have to be edited a little to protect the young eyes.

    ~~Papaz Song by Tupac Shakur~~

    (Tupac - impersonating his father)
    Daddy's home...

    (Tupac)
    Heh, so??
You say that like that means somethin to me
You've been gone a mighty long ************ time
for you to be comin home talkin that "daddy's home" **** *****
We been gettin along fine just without you
Me, my brother, and my mother
So if you don't mind, you can step the **** off, POPS.. **** you!

Had to play catch by myself, what a sorry sight
A pitiful plight, so I pray for a starry night
Please send me a pops before puberty
the things I wouldn't do to see a piece of family unity
Moms always work, I barely see her
I'm startin to get worried without a pops I'll grow to be her
It's a wonder they don't understand kids today
so when I pray, I pray I'll never grow to be that way
And I hope that he answers me
I heard God don't like ugly well take a look at my family
    A different father every weekend
Before we get to meet him they break up before the week ends
I'm gettin sick of all the friendships
As soon as we kick it he done split and the whole **** ends quick
How can I be a man if there's no role model?
Strivin to save my soul I stay cold drinkin a forty bottle
    I'm so sorry...

    (Wycked)
Moms had to entertain many men
Didn't wanna do it but it's time to pay the rent again
I'm gettin a bit older and I'm startin to be a bother
Moms can't stand me cause I'm lookin like my father
Should I stay or run away, tell me the answer
Moms ignores me and avoids me like cancer
Grow up rough and it's hard to understand stuff
Moms was tough cause poppa wasn't man enough
Couldn't stand up to his own responsibilities
Instead of takin care of me, he'd rather live lavishly
    That's why I'll never be a father;
unless you got the time it's a crime don't even bother
That's when I started hatin the phony smiles
Said I was an only child
    Look at mama's lonely smile
It's hard for a son to see his mother cry
She only loves you, but has to **** with these other guys
    I'm so sorry...

    (Tupac)
Man child in the promised land couldn't afford many heroes
Moms was the only one there my pops was a no-show
And ohh - I guess ya didn't know
that I would grow to be so strong
Lookin kinda pale, was it the ale oh pops was wrong
Where was the money that you said, you would send me
talked on the phone and you sounded so friendly
Ask about school and my welfare
but it's clear, you ain't sincere hey who the **** cares
You think I'm blind but this time I see you comin, Jack
You grabbed your coat, left us broke, now ain't no runnin back
Ask about my moms like you loved her from the start
Left her in the dark, she fell apart from a broken heart
So don't even start with that "wanna be your father" ****
Don't even bother with your dollars I don't need it
I'll bury moms like you left me all alone G
Now that that I finally found you, stay the **** away from me
    You're so sorry..

    (Tupac - impersonating his father)
I never meant to leave but I was wanted
Crossed too many people every house I'd touch was haunted
Had to watch the strangers every brother was in danger
If I was to keep you breathin, had to be out of range-a
Had to move, one to lost my name and pick the number
Made me watch my back I had no happy home to run to
Maybe it's my fault for being a father livin fast
But livin slow, mean half the dough, and you won't get no ***
Hindsight shows me it was wrong all along
I wanted to make some dough so you would grow to be so strong
It took a little longer than I thought
I slipped, got caught, and sent to jail by the courts
Now I'm doin time and I wish you'd understand
all I ever wanted was for you to be a man
and grow to be the type you was meant to be
Keep the war fightin by the writings that you sent to me
    I'm so sorry...

John ~ if there is one thing I have taught my kids, there is more than one song writer and more than on genre in this world.
So.. we are in fact kindred spirits? Who 'da thunk. that should give fuel for coffee row.
BTW ~ how bout a Cheeseburger in Paradise?

jodaar ~ it is great to hear him (again) on CD. I confess, the last Tupac I bought (and still listened to) was on Cassette.
Papaz Song is one of my fav's by him. Love it.

firegirl.. I love the Shrek soundtrack. Its GREAT! (actually, I love the movie too)

I like CIP, Rox. My absolute favorite Buffett tune is "Tin Cup Chalice", though. Not many people have heard that one, but it's the best. I'm a huge Parrothead.

ok- i must admit to knowing nothing about jimmy buffett, but here's an insightful piece from "disturbed".

in an age of nothing, at a time when we stand at the brink of our own destruction - strengthen your belief in yourself, in the future of humanity, in the things of this world which cannot easily be perceived. awaken that which lies dormant now within your soul. re-ignite the flame of your consciousness, and measure the strength of your conviction. reveal the lie. renounce your hatred. seek, find, and embrace the truths you are fortunate enough to discover. cherish them, use them to anchor you in the sea of chaos that is the world we live in. when twilight draws near, when you are pushed to the very limits of your soul, when it seems that all you have left are the dead remnants of the fabric of your life - believe.
"I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes. I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best .. "

here's one of my favorite's from ani:

    how can i go home
    with nothing to say
i know you're going to look at me that way
and say what did you do out there
    and what did you decide
    you said you needed time
    and you had time

    you are a china shop
    and i am a bull
    you are really good food
    and i am full
    i guess everything is timing
    i guess everything's been said
so i am coming home with an empty head

you'll say did they love you or what
i'll say they love what i do
the only one who really loves me is you
and you'll say girl did you kick some butt
    and i'll say i don't really remember
    but my fingers are sore
    and my voice is too

you'll say it's really good to see you
you'll say i missed you horribly
you'll say let me carry that
    give that to me
and you will take the heavy stuff
and you will drive the car
and i'll look out the window and make jokes
    about the way things are

    how can i go home
    with nothing to say
i know you're going to look at me that way
and say what did you do out there
    and what did you decide
    you said you needed time
    and you had time
"I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes. I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best .. "

If Not For Misery - The Rembrandts

I've done my best to help you understand
A part of me that wants to take your hand, and pull you close
To dry your tears......But after all these years
We need to let it go, it's not the love we use to know
    Oh listen can't you see
If not for misery, we'd have nothing left at all
So hard we try, to make it like before
Beyond these walls, there must be something more
    More than this
Where love won't die-It's time to say goodbye
Now it's a game of Chutes and Ladders
We only play to win, and nothing else much matters
Remember this to your own heart be true
And if you are, your heart will see you through

another of the rembrandts... this is a nice spring day, ttops off, driving down the road, radio blaring, singing at the top of your lungs with your best friend kind of song.

    Rollin' Down The Hill:

You ask me where we're goin'
    Well I don't know
Let's just sit back and dig the radio
    Now we've been friends forever
    Would I let you down?
It's time to stop and take a look around
And when the gears begin to grind
think of all the mountains we have climbed
Not so long ago we were standing still
And now we're rolling down the hill
I got a pack of troubles
    You've got yours too
And we both know that that ain't nothin' new
So get up off your worries
    Roll away the stone
And live the life that you have never known

    i love this song!!

Always Let Her Dance by Phillip Sandifer

Take her hand and lead her
through every path you take her.
Let her know your love for her is stronger
than the evening or the morning light
    that shines though open windows
ands catches all of the beauty that she is.

    Smile at her for nothing
just to let her know that you think of her.
Make it always easy as you celebrate
another day of life and all the lessons
    that you wander through together,
    never fall apart.

    And always let her dance
let her always be the woman
    that she needs to be.
And if she needs to be alone now
    let her go away.
Knowing she'll be with you on another day.
    Always let her dance
let her know that you could never hold her too tight.
And let her go now if she feels she needs a little time
    always let her dance..

Listen to her saying that she needs
    to have some time alone.
    Hold her as she's crying
and let her know its you that's dying
    when she hurts.
for in your eyes she sees
    the only man who understands
    her every want and need..

And so you wait for her and wonder
if every night could be this lonely
and you know that every second
you'll be thinking of her only
But the time it passes quickly
    and she's home again
and she tells you that she's never gonna go again....

    ....Always let her dance
