What one song got you hooked?

What one song got you hooked so much into the music, that you bought the whole album because you just needed it for that one song? But then after awhile grew to like the band.

Hoobastank's - "the reason" if it wasn't for that one song, I wouldn't be the huge Hoobastank fan that I am now

Black Eyed Peas' - "let's get retarded" I use to hate "hay mama" "shuttup" but when I heard this song, totally got hooked, got the CD, loving everything now

Linkin Park's - "One step closer" if it wasn't for that song, I again wouldn't be a huge LP fan.

    Just a few for now

The Calling, wherever you will go song made me buy the album I liked it so much. Out of Control by Hoobastank, Meant To Live by Switchfoot, Way Away by Yellowcard, What it is To Burn by Finch, Headstrong by Trapt...I usually go to the States and find deals on CD and buy a lot down there. So I just get ones that I love one song on it and get it. Haven't been disappointed yet.

Hmm . . . cool thread idea. For some of my favorite bands, I can recall the exact song that got me intrigued.

    Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight
    Pearl Jam - Black
    Depeche Mode - Home
    Interpol - PDA
    A Perfect Circle - 3 Libras
    Ice Queen - Within Temptation

Hmm... I can't remember all of mine, but for a few of them...

Trapt - First headstrong, but Echo was the one that really made me buy their CD
    Sense Field - I Refuse
    Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue
    Hoobstank - Running Away
Alicia Keys - If I Ain't Got You

I'm sure there are some others, I just can't remember them right now.

Chop Suey - System of a Down
Crawling - Linkin Park (the one reason as to how I got hooked on LP)
    Running Away - Hoobastank
    Clocks - Coldplay
    Headstrong - Trapt

    And some others...
    Gustav Holst was right!

    Oh, how could I forget...

    Think Twice - Eve 6
Bring Me To Life - Evanesence

I think I was the first of my friends to get the Evanescence CD. I swear, I wore that CD OUT all because of Bring Me To Life. That song must have done wonders for them - I still hear it on the radio here.

    Good thread Blue.

For me, it's Avril's "Anything but Ordinary".
    Westlife's "Swear it again".
Hoobastank's "The reason" but I did like an older song of theirs. I just cant remember which now.

    White Flag - Dido
    Bodyrock - Moby
From the Sea - Eskimo Joe
Somewhere down the barrel - The Dissociatives

Usually I buy compilation CD's though. Nothin worse buying a CD from hearing one song but finding out later the rest of the songs suck.
    I rather lurk than post.

The one that stands out for me was Lauryn Hill's single "Doo Wop (That Thing)" - I bought The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill soley because I loved that song and her voice, and I am NOT a hip-hop fan, but the CD is
