"We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun; but the wine and the songs, like the seasons have all gone..." I'm not sure that's the one, but I am happy to report that's about all I know of the song. And I'm not sure about the second part of the lyrics.

Oops...some more just came back to me (now I'm going to have it stuck in my head thankyouverymuch...grrrr) It starts out "Hello, darkness, my old friend..."

ETA: Mine was Me & Bobby McGee - Janis Joplin

Westlife has an incredibly goopy, I think that is word...if it is not it should be, version of Seasons in the Sun.

I only put on my Westlife cd when I am in a soppy mood or incredibly homesick. I think that cd is 1 hr and 15 min of ballads.

    Westlife
    Seasons In The Sun

Goodbye to you my trusted friend
Weve known each other since we
    Were nine or ten
Together weve climbed hills and trees
    Learned of love and abcs
    Skinned our hearts and
    Skinned our knees

Goodbye my friend its hard to die
When all the birds are singing
    In the sky
Now that spring is in the air
    Pretty girls are everywhere
Think of me and ill be there

we had joy we had fun we had
    seasons in the sun
but the hills that we climbed were
    just seasons out of time

goodbye papa please pray for me
i was the black sheep of the family
you tried to teach me right from wrong
too much wine and too much song
    wonder how i got along

goodbye papa its hard to die
when all the birds are singing in the sky
now that the spring is in the air
    little children everywhere
when you see them ill be there

we had joy we had fun we had
    seasons in the sun
but the wine and the songs like the
    seasons have all gone
we had joy we had fun we had
    seasons in the sun
but the wine and the song like
    the seasons have all gone

    goodbye michelle my little one
you gave me love and helped
    me find the sun
and every time that i was down
    you would always come around
and get my feet back on
    the ground

goodbye michelle its hard to die
when all the birds are singing in
    the sky
now that the spring is in the air
    with the flowers everywhere
i wish that we could both be there

we had joy we had fun we had
    seasons in the sun
but the hills that we climbed were
    just seasons out of time

we had joy we had fun we had
    seasons in the sun
but the wine and the song like the
    seasons have all gone

we had joy we had fun we had
    seasons in the sun
but the wine and the song like the
    seasons have all gone

we had joy we had fun we had
    seasons in the sun
but the wine and the song like the
    seasons have all gone

Seasons In The Sun always has me bawling like a baby. Especially the lines "Goodbye Michelle its hard to die / when all the birds are singing in
the sky / now that the spring is in the air / with the flowers everywhere / I wish that we could both be there". Nothing like contrasting the wonders of spring with untimely death to get the tears a-flowing. I get all misty-eyed just reading those lines here. I should probably add that I've been fortunate enough not to hear the Westlife cover; I've only heard the original.

So many people here have mentioned songs that I specifically remember hearing, or, in some cases, going out to buy the single. I didn't think I'd feel old at 25, but knowing that some of my fellow FORTers were hardly born when I watched Color Me Badd gueststar in that episode of "Beverly Hills 90210" (they performed your birthday song, SurvivorGirl!) does make me feel... mature. Kaleidoscopes mention of Paula Abdul's Rush, Rush also brought back some fond memories. Surely I can't be the only one who kept watching the video over and over just 'cause Keanu looked so hot?

I get really nostalgic about anything 90's these days...

Hmm, the number one song when I was born was "The Flame" by Cheap Trick (on the US Charts).

For fun, I did the UK Charts as well and I got "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You" by Glenn Medeiros. (I saw bits and pieces of the song and video on MuchMoreMusic's "Back In..." and I mist say...it was dreadful.
If you really did love music, you wouldn't limit yourself to just one genre.
