Ooh, live albums are great fun to listen to. My favorites:

Smashing Pumpkins - Live at the Cabaret Metro
Smashing Pumpkins - Tune in, Turn on, Rawk out

(it's an Australian import of an acoustic radio performance)
Depeche Mode - 101
Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie - Children of the Night
Ween - Live in Chicago
Nirvana - Unplugged in NYC
Alice in Chains - Unplugged
Eric Clapton - Unplugged
Roy Orbison and Friends - Black and White Night

Bill Kirchen - Hot Rod Lincoln Live (most of it is just ok, but I love the live version that he does of Hot Rod Lincoln)

Allman Brothers Band - The Fillmore Concerts and 2nd Set

Interesting thread.

I think there are some bands who sound better live than in the studo. One band that immediately comes to mind in this category is J. Geils Band. I love their "Blow Your Face Out" and "Full House" redcordings, but their studio stuff does nothing for me.

Obviously, Kiss "Alive" and "Frampton Comes Alive" are classics. I think just about everybody in my generation (40-something) had those albums.

Roy Buchanan - "Livestock"
Neil Young - "Live Rust"
Genesis - "Seconds Out"
Morrissey - "Live at Earl's Court"
The Who - "Live at Leeds"

Yes - "Yessongs"
Rush - "All the World's a Stage"
Joe Jackson - "Live 1980/86"
Metallica - "S & M"

Queensryche's Operation LiveCrime makes my playing rotation quite often, too.

Ditto to Eric Clapton Unplugged, but I also really like Simon and Garfunkel Concert in Central Park. I prefer listening to the live versions of those songs any day of the week.
