    Post Your Favorite Lyrics

I always have portions of song lyrics listed in my signature and I change them up from to time. People have PM'ed me in the past to inquire what the songs were, the rest of the lyrics etc.

So I thought a good thread would be one where you can post some of your favorite lyrics (one song at a time please) and share them with others. Songs that inspire you, make you feel good, cheer you up when you are down or help you to comiserate when you are blue and want to remain blue.

I will start with the lyrics from my current signature since a couple of people have asked me about them. I think its a positive message song about how all of us have to deal with decisions that we have made and the barriers that are in our way that we must overcome in order to acheive what we want to acheive and be what we long to be. No one ever said that life would be easy or a smooth path.

    Song: The Wall
    Artist: Kansas

    I'm woven in a fantasy, I can't believe the things I see
The path that I have chosen now has led me to a wall
And with each passing day I feel a little more like something dear was lost
It rises now before me, a dark and silent barrier between,
All I am, and all that I would ever want be
It's just a travesty, towering, marking off the boundaries my spirit would erase

To pass beyond is what I seek, I fear that I may be too weak
And those are few who've seen it through to glimpse the other side,
The promised land is waiting like a maiden that is soon to be a bride
The moment is a masterpiece, the weight of indecision's in the air
It's standing there, the symbol and the sum of all that's me
It's just a travesty, towering, blocking out the light and blinding me
    I want to see

Gold and diamonds cast a spell, it's not for me I know it well
The riches that I seek are waiting on the other side
There's more that I can measure in the treasure of the love that I can find
And though it's always been with me, I must tear down the Wall and let it be
All I am, and all that I was ever meant to be, in harmony
Shining true and smiling back at all who wait to cross
    There is no loss

Honestly there are too almost too many Springsteen lyrics to pick from.

Here's the one I usually take my sig from, too. They are not his most complex or best, but...the subject matter was his most tragic.

Title: Into the Fire (from The Rising album)
    Artist: Bruce Springsteen

The sky was falling and streaked with blood
I heard you calling me, then you disappeared into the dust
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need your kiss, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs, into the fire

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

You gave your love to see, in fields of red and autumn brown
You gave your love to me and lay your young body down
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need you near, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs, into the fire

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

It was dark, too dark to see, you held me in the light you gave
You lay your hand on me
Then walked into the darkness of your smoky grave
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need your kiss, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs, into the fire

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your love bring us love

My fave lyrics that make me happy and smile are Barry manilow's Copacabana...
I'm too lazy to type them all I just give ya all a taste...

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl, with yellow feathers in her hair and her dress cut down to there....
Coco Magdalena made her debut Sept 2, 2006 7lbs 1oz!!!

That is a fun song. I actually like Barry Manilow. Sort of as a guilty pleasure because he has such a stigman of being a campy light music station kind of guy with a fan base of 40-60 year old women.

But I think he has some really touching and well written ballads, most of which were written by other songwriters, but he made them his own.

I have a concert DVD of his and I was playing it one day and I have surround sound home theather so it was cranked pretty good as I was in a Manilow Mood.

Well the weather was nice and so I had my windows open, I live in a townhouse subdivision so a lot of people were walking past down the sidewalk and it was so funny. Some poeple would sort of bounce their head to the music and I could see that they were mouthing the words. Other people would walk by and look at my house with this really wierd look on their face as if they just ate lemon or as if I was playing music from Mars. LOL

meh.. I won't bother posting whole song lyrics.. who actually reads them.. I'll post my favorite lines though

"take a look to the sky just before you die, it's the last time you will" - For Whom the Bell Tolls - Metallica

"then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, is just a freight train coming your way" - No Leaf Clover - Metallica

"I have a backyard with nothing in it, except for a stick, a dog, and a box with something in it" - Hardest Button to Button - The White Stripes

there's more.. can't think of them off the top of my head though

Shakira's "Underneath Your Clothes", especially the opening line -- "You're a song, written by the hands of God."
"You better shut your mouth when you're talkin' to me!"

Anything by Leonard Cohen. He's just written too many beautiful and haunting lyrics for me to even choose.
