Secure Yourself by the Indigo Girls

    In the ink of an eye I saw you bleed;
Through the thunder I could hear you scream,
Solid to the air I breath,
    Open-eyed and fast asleep.
    Falling softly as the rain;
No footsteps ringing in your ears.
Ragged down worn to the skin,
    Warrior raging, have no fear.

    Secure yourself to heaven.
Hold on tight, the night has come.
    Fasten up your earthly burdens,
    You have just begun.

    Kneeling down with broken prayers,
Hearts and bones from days of youth.
    Restless with an angel's wing,
I dig a grave to bury you.
    No feet to fall,
    You need no ground.
Allowed to glide right through the sun,
    Released from circles guarded tight,
Now we all are chosen ones.

    Secure yourself to heaven.
Hold on tight, the night has come.
    Fasten up your earthly burdens,
    You have just begun.

This is my favorite song, reminds me of my father who I only got to know really well for the first time last weekend.

Wilson Phillips Flesh And Blood lyrics

If you never plan to come out of your shell, you're never gonna get well.
I understand your reasons not to.
What you don't know is what you're afraid of.
And I'm afraid of it too
But can I even talk to you again?

Oh part of me wants to call you up, and talk to you like a friend.
And there's a part of me that wants to shut you out
And never see your face again.

    Chorus:
How can we be like enemies when we're only flesh and blood?
What does it take to make your heart bleed, Daddy aren't we enough?
You can get through there's nothing stopping you from getting to us
No one can take a way the fact that we're only... flesh and blood
For years I've been following your case, It's the only time I see your face
And we've learned to live without you.
Who you don't know is who you're afraid of
And we're afraid of you too
But will we ever talk to you again?

Oh part of me wants to call you up, just talk to you like a friend
There's a part of me that wants to shut you out
And never see your face again.

    (Chorus)

I want to make you laugh, and I want a chance to know you better.
I want to hear you sing beside me now.
    We're just like you.

    (Chorus)

I want to make you laugh, I want a chance to know you better
I want to hear you sing beside me now... flesh and blood
I want to make you laugh (want to make you laugh), and I want a chance to know you better
I want to hear you sing beside me now
I'm a part of you, and I miss you.

Since there has been so much (well deserved) hoopla since Johnny Cash's death regarding his music, I thought I would post some of the lyrics from one of my favorite Johnny Cash songs - written by Kris Kristofferson

Title - Sunday Morning Comin Down

Well I woke up Sunday morning,
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
Then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes,
And found my cleanest dirty shirt.
An' I shaved my face and combed my hair,
An' stumbled down the stairs to meet the day.

I'd smoked my brain the night before,
On cigarettes and songs I'd been pickin'.
But I lit my first and watched a small kid,
Cussin' at a can that he was kicking.
Then I crossed the empty street,
'n caught the Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken.
And it took me back to somethin',
That I'd lost somehow, somewhere along the way.

    On the Sunday morning sidewalk,
Wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cos there's something in a Sunday,
    Makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothin' short of dyin',
Half as lonesome as the sound,
    On the sleepin' city sidewalks:
    Sunday mornin' comin' down.

I like this line: "I'm tired of being what you want me to be." It's from a song by Linkin Park called "Numb," and I absolutely that song.

White Flag by Dido is an awesome song.
    My faovrite lines are:
Well I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

The two songs mentioned above by haejin11377 and KylieGrant are great songs !

I will like to add to 'Numb'

    I've become so numb
    I can't feel you there
    Become so tired
    So much more aware
    I'm becoming this
    All I want to do
    Is be more like me
    And be less like you
