Mr Geek and I tend to buy CDs together since we have almost identical taste in music. Our latest buy is a real gem - Personality (One Was a Spider, One Was a Bird) by Sleepy Jackson. It's one of the most eclectic and innovative records I've heard in a long time. Think what the schizophrenic love child of the Beach Boys and The Flaming Lips might sound like, throw in a hint of Gorky's Zygotic Munci and The Thrills, and le voilą, you've got Sleepy Jackson! Standout tracks include God Lead Your Soul and God Knows - oddly enough, Beach Boys' gorgeous, gorgeous "God Only Knows" comes to mind when I'm listening to both of those tracks - and "I Understand What You Want But I Just Don't Agree", whose title is almost on par with Morrissey in terms of wittiness. There isn't a bad track on it, though. Manny, if you haven't discovered Sleepy Jackson yet, you're in for a treat! I'm almost 100% positive that you'll love this.
Agatsuma. Japanese techno-poppy instrumentals. Heard this guy on Breakfast With The Arts (not my usual fare) and got hooked by the one tune he played. Immediately searched the internet and bought 3 used cd's. They're all great - I'm playing them in the office where they're a fabulous change from the sappy muzak.
Modern Times by Bob Dylan
and
The Best of Siouxie and the Banshees
The Last Kiss Soundtrack
and
The Final Straw by Snow Patrol
Danity Kane of course! August 22, so not today, but recently...lol
Yesterday I bought "Californication" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Stacie Orrico's new album. Worth every penny :D
