| Why, thank you. ![]() I think I'm being rash. I've always found with Sleater Kinney I have to listen to the CDs for awhile - get some memories built up with the songs, and then I can't stop listening to it. At least, that is how Call the Doctor was, for me. |

| I have been so in love with the new Decemberists' album, Picaresque. ![]() I cannot get it out of my cd player, and I have been foisting it on everyone I know. It's difficult to describe, sort of like the lovechild of Belle & Sebastian and the Smiths meets Edgar Allen Poe in a Victorian opium den. With an obsession for the sea. It's good, please, just trust me. Also, the songwriter was a creative writing major, so the lyrics to each song are not only wonderful turns-of-phrase, but comprise a complete stories. I highly recommend reading the lyrics at least once to appreciate the artistry here. If you must read only one, make it "Mariner's Revenge Song," a surprisingly satisfying ditty (revenge polka!) that takes place in the belly of a whale. Standout tracks: We Both Go Down Together, The Bagman's Gambit, The Engine Driver, The Mariner's Revenge Song

| ClassiKhan - Chaka Khan with the London Symphony Orchestra **** (Chaka does jazz and pop standards; "Crazy" and "Round Midnight" stand out.) |
