    I'm ooooold

Okay, here's a little background for you. I'm 32. Yesterday, I noticed a CD lying in the grass outside my home office window, someone must have dropped it during the evening of the 4th.

So, I go out and grab it. It's a burned CD with the title "Classic Rock / Stoner Mix". I'm thinking "hmmmmm, interesting combination. Doors, Zep, maybe that kind of thing."

I pop it in, and out blasts Guns N Roses, Aerosmith, Motley Crue....

When the hell did this become "Classic Rock"???

    Welcome to my world John.

The classic rock station is having a "freedom" rock weekend where people can request classics. A woman called in requesting "Born in the USA" which the DJ said "a classic from the 80's" like it was the oldest dang song on the face of the earth. That song came out in 1984 (or 85) when I was 22. Any song that came out when I was 22 is no way old.....it can't be.....darn it.

I could go east, I could go west, it was all up to me to decide. Just then I saw a young hawk flyin' and my soul began to rise. ~Bob Seger

Guns N' Roses!?!?!?!!?!? Gaaaaack...my worst nightmare is ensuing. That band is about my "age." At least this wasn't an official release, John!

I just worry about the day I turn on an "oldies" station and hear The Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Pearl Jam....

Sadly, all of the songs on this burned CD are already in my CD collection. But I never before thought of them as "classic rock" before last night.

I find this discussion deeply disturbing. I'm off to take refuge in "The Dark Side of the Moon."
