I don't know if anyoe's said this (and I'm too lazy to look), but Chris Daughtry's Wanted: Dead or Alive was better tthen the original Bon Jovi if you ask me.
...And the strange boy continued to weave in and out of her life, leaving her with a sense of wonder and amazment, but also, a feeling of loss, knowing that life might never be the same again.

Best: Cat Power's "Wendy Song (David Bowie - "Wild is the Wind")
Worst: Brand New's "Oh Comely" (Neutral Milk Hotel)
Their "Oh Comely" cover is ridiculous, the singer is completely imitating Jeff Mangum's emotive way of singing it, but he can't pull it off because his voice is a lot different.
Giselle: I need to build some frickin' confidence! How do I do that?
Elyse: You .. get out of puberty.

I recently caught Meat Loaf and Marion Raven's version of It's all coming back to me now. So much better than Celine Dion's version (Not that hard though. I read on Wikipedia that the song was intended for Meat Loaf back when it was written, but he didn't use it and Celine did in stead. Since that version was so much better it was good to that the song found its home.

Worst: Anything Guns N Roses covered (and there are so many) with the exception of Live and Let Die and it was ok.

Best: Ty Taylor on RockStar: INXS doing Bob Marley's No Woman, No Cry.

Rmemeber the old Beatles song, Every Little This She Does, She Does For Me? I heard an incredible version of this song by Yes on XM radio just a day or so ago. I had never heard it before, but it is great.

Can anyone help me with who it is?

I am hoping that it is someone I don't like...
You're talking about Eva Cassidy (No relation to David)

She passed away November 2, 1996 at the age of 33.

What a great idea for a thread. There's a bunch mentioned that I haven't heard and I hope I never do But some goodies, too

That's from their first (and rather obscure!) album. Yes is one of my faves

    Other bests:
Steve Hillage covers The Beatles' "It's All Too Much"
Cake's totally wicked version of Gaynor's "I Will Survive" (I see I'm not the only one here)
    RHCP's "Higher Ground" (ditto)
Ozzy does Lennon's "Working Class Hero"
    Green Day also covers "WCH"
Anything covered by Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine

That can easily head my worst list, and I see we're not alone on that!
Limp Bizkit completely butchers The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes"
311 (who I usually love) drains the heart and soul out of the Cure's "Love Song"

He is the most awesomely bad, ever, but I think he does it as a joke? mom3, you mentioned his cover of Elton's "Rocket Man" -- have you seen the video? He makes me laugh my ass off

Not sure it's the best cover song, but I LOVE Jeffrey Gaines' version of Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes"

Anyone else with a worst/best cover?
I don't know about you but one of my FAVORITE cover songs EVER has to be "Bringin' on the heartbreak" by Mariah Carey
