Spoilers if you haven't seen the latest episode (4/27)

I was annoyed by the roommates' reactions to Dustin's porn past. Just because he didn't walk in and tell everyone right off the bat that he did porn doesn't mean he is a liar. It doesn't mean that everything he has said or done is a lie. I'm not saying Dustin is perfect but I do think everyone is making it a bigger deal than it is.

No, but his hypocritical, homophobic attitude deserves every bit of disdain.

I have little doubt he has more than a touch of 'gay' in him, and hates that about himself.

What he needs is a shrink.

I also think he had nothing to lose by going on a show like this. He like most people on reality TV is a fame whore. He didn't do well enough in high school or college to get a "real" job and is looking for an easy way to make a living. He already has made by his own admission "thousands" in the gay porn industry, now has the opportunity to really blow up going on the real world. Of course he knew this would come out right away, its on the internet! He would have to be mentally challenged to think he could get through even a couple of episodes without the world finding out about this.

That's what he wanted. Now his fame has grown exponentially. Congrats.

Lesson to kids: do the opposite of these clowns in your life. Stay in school, excel, and you won't have to be a fame whore to make a living!

Re: Real World 26: Back To Las Vegas

I'm glad Heather's mother had the guts to ask her if she knew Dustin had done porn, since her roommates who knew decided it wasn't their business to tell her.

Normally, I wouldn't think it was their business to butt in with personal information either, but unless Dustin was wearing a condom in every single porn he did, Heather had a right to know that she had unknowingly possibly been exposed to possible STDs (and I'd say the same thing whether he was doing gay or straight porn; doesn't matter what kind of unprotected sex you're having with multiple partners). Of course, if Heather has insisted--as she should have--on a condom when they've had sex, I suppose that isn't an issues, but if there's even a chance that she hasn't...

And yeah, people can come into a relationship with heaven knows what from who knows how many partners regardless of whether they've done porn or not, which is why it's incredibly foolish not to insist on a condom no matter what.

Oh, yeah, and how in the world can Dustin say "Nobody knows" about what he did? If it's available on the internet, somebody must know. Look how easy it was for Heather's mother and Adam to find it. Heck, if there wasn't a market for what he did, no one would have ever paid him to do it in the first place.

Re: Real World 26: Back To Las Vegas

You know, Dustin's roommates were actually pretty mature about how they handled the situation. They were honest with him, but nobody raised their voices or carried on about it unduly. Mike thought he might get too angry, so he kept his mouth shut and wrote out a letter instead (which Dustin then announced said that Mike hated him when it clearly did not say that). The only one who's being overly dramatic about the situation is Dustin.

And good for Heather for flat out telling him that it is a big deal to her and asking him if she should be tested--and not believing him when he said she didn't need to be. It's far better that she go ahead and get tested--it's far better that she should know, one way or another, for sure than to sit around and worry about it. Dustin also ticked me off when he started accusing Heather of judging him. C'mon, this is the same guy who threw a hissy fit about Heather kissing Mike during a game of truth or dare, just because Mike knew Dustin liked her. He accused Mike of betraying him, when it wasn't even Mike who initiated the kiss and even when everyone assured him that it wasn't the kind of situation he was assuming it to be (and it was witnessed by a great number of people, all of whom were saying the same things). But Heather can't feel uncomfortable that he kept the fact that he had oral sex on tape for money from her without being accused of judging him? I think a lot of people might justifiably have a problem with that, for many of the same reasons Heather had.

I'm watching Dustin on the after show as I watch this. I'm sorry, but I just have a really hard time believing he had no other options other than the oil fields, selling drugs, and doing porn. Poor Heather looks so embarrassed while he's talking on and on about masturbating on camera.

I also don't like how he kept trying to deny the extent of what he did on that website. He even at first said he didn't touch or kiss any of the guys LOL There are videos of him giving BJ's to multiple guys. (which for the record I don't have a problem with)...but it says volumes about our society that he didn't want to admit it even knowing the evidence is all over the internet 2 clicks away for the whole world to see...interestingly MTV was able to get the site to block many of those videos before the real world aired Hmmm...

Such hypocrisy! The nerve of Dustin to say he was afraid of telling Leroy because Leroy is homophobic! Leroy handled the news really well and was willing to make a change for Dustin when he thought Dustin was gay. I don't understand why Mike was so upset though.
If I were a roommate, I certainly would not be able to trust Dustin. The hypocrisy is just too much to overcome. I don't like that.

Re: Real World 26: Back To Las Vegas

The amount of justifying Dustin was trying to do on the after show was ridiculous. Mike was on that as well, and he was really quite calm and non-accusatory. What Mike said upset him was that he felt Dustin's homophobic comments were hypocritical in light of what he'd done on the website and that they bothered him in the first place because he had friends who were gay and didn't like that kind of attitude toward homosexuality as a result. Dustin then claimed that he didn't say anything homophobic and tried to justify all his remarks by saying, for instance, that he had said that he didn't think gays should get married because he knew gay guys who felt that marriage wasn't the right option for them and they should have a different option instead (which didn't quite make sense to me, because they have other options already, at least in several states--they can simply live together or have civil unions). Besides, if that's what he meant, then he should have said that--and, of course, just because he knows gay guys who feel that way doesn't address the fact that there are other gay guys who would like to get married. Does he think they shouldn't be allowed to because his friends don't wish to be married? His argument was just really hard to follow, but Mike was very nice about it. In fact, so was Heather. I wish someone would calmly point out to him that his arguments don't really make sense, that he keeps contradicting himself etc., so he would have to, as they say in the show's intro, get "real."

As I've said before, I also wonder if Mike got so upset initially, because Dustin has been very judgmental of him personally, throwing a huge fit and accusing him of betraying him because of a stupid kiss with Heather he didn't even initiate and tried to refuse in a game of truth or dare witnessed by a bunch of other people. It was not anywhere near the big deal Justin made of it, particularly since Heather and Justin weren't even involved at that point. Yet Dustin gets all horrified that people are judging him (and they weren't being anywhere near as harsh and confrontational toward him as he was toward Mike). Heather and LeRoy pretty much pointed out the same thing to Dustin regarding his hypocrisy. What hasn't really been pursued, at least yet, is that Dustin is saying that the guy who got him involved in the website is someone he looked at as a father figure, whom he trusted, and for whom he was willing to do things on camera he initially said he wouldn't, because of that trust. As one of the other roommates said (can't remember which one), if that's true, Dustin was being emotionally manipulated by a guy who was basically his pimp (the roommate's description), and it should be important to Dustin to know why he allowed that to happen. But that's assuming Dustin was telling the truth, and at this point, it's hard to know when he is and when he isn't, because he keeps changing his story.

I do think it's interesting that all three of the guys--Dustin, LeRoy, and Mike--have come from pretty traumatic childhoods and have reacted very differently to it. LeRoy and Mike seem to have pulled themselves through their problems in many ways. If Dustin would let them, they could probably help him, but I'm not sure Dustin is ready yet to admit that he's got some pretty serious issues with which to deal, and I'm not referring only to the porn, though his reasons for getting involved in that and defending his involvement seem troubling. I don't think he's nearly as at ease with what he's done as he's saying he is, and if it does bother him, he needs to deal with that for his own sake, not anyone else's. Beyond that, his relationship with his mother is also clearly problematic, and LeRoy and Mike have both had difficulties dealing with parents who have issues of their own, and they've been very forthcoming about that. I think they may be at a different stage of dealing with that than Dustin is and could offer valuable advice and assistance, if Dustin were to stop with all the artificial drama with which he surrounds himself long enough to listen to them.

right, i think their reaction was more because of all his hypocrisy.

he has more than a touch of gay in him. i mean i guess i believe in the idea of "gay for pay", but he i still think he is gay/bi.

he def needs a shrink. his mom messed him up bad.

that episode was draining to say the least. it was also one of the REALEST real world episodes i've ever seen.
