i do think he needs to back the hell off. if for no other reason....to not make himself look like a jerk on national television and air their family's dirty laundry.

however i can see his frustration as a parent. if he is innocent he appears to want to establish a relationship with his child. he knows that this is all BS and he is desperately wants to prove his innocence and let his child know he still loves her. if he stays silent, that may look like looking guilty in his mind.

sarah just needs to not to answer the phone. hang up, show that she is not going to entertain him at all, and leave it at all. whether or not anything actually happened...she will keep reliving these "memories" over and over again.

Her father does sound creepy and controlling. But at the same time imagine what people that know him will think after the show. It can easily cost him his job. Maybe calling to the show is just his way of trying to show his view of the story.

Also, how did he get the house phone number? Wouldn't you think there is some phone screening going on especially in a serious matter like this. It does make me sceptical.

Oh, boo hoo! No one said to call her, she specifically doesn't have contact with him so that he wont do exactly that.

I read elsewhere that she wasn't allowed to go into details on MTV for legal reasons, but she did provide more on some blog (which was not linked). He does sound like a creep.

I look at her talking about being tough as way of reassuring herself. Maybe she isn't tough, but by telling herself all the time that she is, it reinforces that.

i am all for feeling bad for the victim and feeling sympathy. but i am not for people ruining the lives of others when that person did not do anything wrong. one sleeping bag+tickling does not equal a pedophile.

and really, i think sarah's mom is more at fault with this situation anyway if it is completely false. so in a way i guess sarah could still be a victim, just of her mothers.

I read Sarah's blog and it does state the other inappropriate thing her father did. I'll put them in spoilers in case anyone doesn't want to read them.

But trust me.. there is MUCH more to the story, my father would show my little brothers pornographic pictures of women in bondage when they were only 5 and 8 years old. My dad stood in front of me naked and tried to get me in bed with him. All disgusting and unacceptable for any father.

I can't post a link to her blog on the FORT, but if you search for Sarah Real World blog, you'll be able to find it.

I think it's important people realize that actual sex doesn't have to occur for a child to be sexually abused. And just because it can't be proved in a court doesn't mean it didn't happen. I work for a rape crisis center and I know firsthand how difficult it is to get a conviction in child sexual assault cases, but the kids are still traumatized.

I fully agree with you. Thank you for your experienced insight. I am left with the impression that Sarah's mother is being supportive of her, like I think I might be if my child had been damaged.

okay. if sarah's father did all that it is a SHAME on the court system for not putting this man in jail.

it also confuses me more on why she even bothers talking to this man. she really needs to just hang up on him. it also makes me wonder why the HELL her mother would allow sarah to go out on a camping trip alone with this man.

i hope her brothers are in counseling too as this has probably scarred them for life.

My half-sister's father molested her. He moved out of state and fell through the cracks with the court system. Police didn't want to deal with it (which is sadly sometimes status quo for sex crimes).

Anyhow, my half-sister felt the need to move in with him at some point and more over felt the need to build a relationship with him to find closure.

There is a lot of grooming and mind games that go on by people who molest and sometimes it causes some serious serious damage to the victim and it results in this kind of behavior.

I don't find it bizarre at all that she would keep in contact with him.
