    Re: The Next James Bond

I was doing some research and discovered that Barry Nelson was the very first James Bond in the 1954 version of Casino Royale.

The full version of the film (50 min) is a preserved kinescope shown live on Climax Mystery Theater. It is in black and white. Fascinating.

Obviously, Barry isn't available, but he does show the beginnings of the suave Bond we come to know and love.

Idris fans are in good company!

I read a blind item on a gossip site hinting that Idris may have been offered (and had accepted) Bond. I don't want to even allow myself to get excited until an official announcement.

From GQ: New James Bond: who will be the next 007? | British GQ

I don't agree that Idris is too old. I've never thought of James Bond as a particularly young man. Not old, but not young. I think Idris could do well in the role. He's definitely in great shape. I don't know how old Roger Moore was when he played the role, but he seems older than Idris does.

If Jamie Bell is out for being too short (for me, it's those ears), shouldn't that exclude Tom Hardy as well? He's only 5'9".

I'd never considered James Norton, but IMO, he'd be great in the role. He's definitely tall, suave and handsome. I'd buy that ticket! I don't agree that he's too unknown. I mean, it's not like Daniel Craig was a huge star when he was cast.

Still not on board for Hiddleston (I'm a fan, but not of him as Bond) or Fassbender or really MOST of the actors on that list....and definitely not on board for Gillian Anderson, no matter how much I love her.

I think it would be a nice change to have an ethnic or a coloured actor to play the next James Bond, I'm fine with Idris Elba I like him and he's a talented actor.

Or maybe even a female James Bond would be cool and call her "Jane Bond", I can totally picture Scarlett Johansson as 'Jane Bond'
