    The Book Thief

I read The Book Thief a few years ago and it was such a fantastic story. It has the potential to be an excellent movie. I am really looking forward to seeing this one!!

Watched the trailer found it interesting enough that I would go see the movie. Then I read the comments...really...people...t he movies are never exactly like the book...the people cast are never like you imagined them to be..so why quibble over it.

This is my favorite book so I hope the movie does it justice. I was skeptical at first because there wasn't any indication from the trailer that death is the narrator like he was in the book. The author Markus Zusak confirmed that death is in fact the narrator, though. The only complaint I have is that Liesel looks very healthy and clean with her hair curled when she steps out of the car. I was picturing her as more disheveled at that moment. With the nitpicking aside, I am very excited to see this!

Just came back from seeing "The Book Thief." We gave it a 9.75+ out of 10. Excellent, excellent movie. I've not read the book, but certainly will now!

Just saw the Book Thief. While a wonderful made film that shows a unique slice of life of ordinary Germans in a small town right before and during World War II the movie felt incomplete to me and I would give it a rating of C+.

The girl playing Liesel does an extraordinary job with her character I felt she was very lucky to have found a set of parents and best friend after her mother had given her up, another best friend in Max and after that another mother immediately after that in the burgermeister's wife. We should all be so lucky.

Bearcata - Did you think that there were moments in the film that felt kind of like "The Diary of Anne Frank" from the German point of view? Someone on IMDB commented similarly to your comment, asking "What was the point?"

Someone else responded that it was a movie that showed that people can come through horrendous things and move on to live successful lives. I think that's what I related to . . . I didn't live through a war, but my early life was pretty awful.

This was a beautiful film, and Geoffrey Rush was magnificent. Well cast, well acted, highly recommended. Agree, be ready to shed some tears.
