I hope that happens as I loved this book.

While I think The Host is a much better book than Twilight, I do think that the author really needs a strong editor because she does write too much stuff that simply goes no where. I have the same problem with Laurell K. Hamilton and her Anita Blake series. I do see the need for a sequel for The Host but have a hard time imagining it as a trilogy.

I think I could see it as a trilogy, but, does she plan on writing another book? It came out quite a while ago.

I got about a third of the way through this book before I set it aside for something else. It felt like it wasn't going anywhere and I was getting really bored. I was also getting really annoyed with the main character "needing" the guy in her life so much. It felt like Bella redeux. If the ending is good, maybe I will pick it back up and slog through to get the final payoff...

I listened to the audiobook and it was 20 cds long which is extremely long. Most audiobooks are 8 to 9 cds long, some are 11 to 12 cds long but 20 cds is very, very long. I had to take a break after 10 cds because it felt as if the book was going no where. It took about 2 weeks but i finally started listening again and I would say the last third of the book is good. This is always been my pet peeve against the author, I simply don't understand why her editors do not cut, cut, cut her spew of prose. Unless, egads, this is a brutal editing of the original manuscript. Overall I do feel The Host is a much better book then the Twilight series.

Yes, unfortunately one has to get at least half way through the book before it even gets SLIGHTLY interesting.

I think the movie will be a bore for sure.

But, I will be going to see it.

I have read posts that say she is so busy now that her career as a writer has taken off that she no longer has time to post.

I went back and finished reading the book. It does pick up eventually. I could actually see this turning into a pretty decent movie. While the book is huge, there is a ton that would be easy to cut out for the movie. I am curious to see what they do with it.
