The Vow

This is the show about a woman who's in a car accident and forgets the last 5 years of her life, including the facts that she dropped out of law school and became a successful sculptor, broke up with her fiance and married someone else, and hadn't spoken to her family for many years. So..she wakes up and completely doesn't understand her life. That pretty much happens in the first 5 minutes and is covered in the previews so don't think it's a spoiler.
Saw it this afternoon, in company with a theater full of couples (hey, it's almost V Day), very nice "chick flick", that raises some interesting issues about what it is you love about others, what is really core in your life, etc. Some non obvious twists and turns.
The NY Times didn't like it because it seemed "unrealistic", but supposedly it was based on a real life story (at the very very end, just before the credits there is a quick shot of the "real" people, that tells you what happened to them post accident). Does anyone know how close to reality it was?

The had a segment on the real couple on a show tonight. She did lose her memory as a result of an accident. Afterwards a therapist recommended her and her husband start again as if they were newly dating and she fell in love with him again. He said he would never have left her because he had made a vow (hence the title, guess). He seemed to love her very much; he was teary recollecting events that happened years earlier. They wrote a book and, two kids later, are still together.

Haven't seen the movie yet so I don't know how closely it hews to the truth.
