I've gone through times where I would watch one movie pretty much every day for weeks at a time. Footloose and Xanadu have had the honors of being that movie.
I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I love Xanadu ,because of the terrible dialogue and bad acting plus the whacked out theme (roller skating muses???), but I absolutely love the music in the movie (ELO!) and the special effects in the scenes. It's like they have one really neat scene followed by a really lame one, followed by another great one, all through the movie.
Some of my favorite scenes are the opening (where the mural comes to life one girl at a time in slo-mo), the cartoon of Kira and Sonny, Olivia Newton John's dance with Gene Kelly, and the ending where ONJ sings the title song and a medley of other songs.
I might have to watch Xanadu when I get home tonight. It's been a long time since I've watched it!

Re: Movies-your favorites
Forgot to mention Men in Black (1 & 2) and Austin Powers (1 & 2)! Austin Powers 3 (Goldmember) was not so good.
I also didn't mention most of the sequel movies like Star Wars and Harry Potter where I liked just about all of the series. Return of the Jedi was my favorite of the Star Wars movies but the Empire Strikes Back wasn't far behind it. I didn't like most of the prequels, though. The only one of those I liked was 3, Revenge of the Sith. And I still like the original Star Wars sequels better than it. I liked the original Police Academy but not so much all the sequels. All of the Die Hard sequels are pretty good but some I like better than others.

Re: Movies-your favorites
I too love the sound track to Xanadu and have it recorded on a tape cassette. I really should put it on a CD or get it on the computer somehow.
